Dr. Breck Thrash grew up in the Oklahoma panhandle on a cattle ranch where sunscreen was about as scarce as palm trees. Breck realized he wanted to be a doctor when he fell off a horse at 3 years of age and had to have his broken arm placed in a cast by their family doctor. It wasn’t until after completing undergrad and medical school at the University of Oklahoma, followed by almost 3 years of internal medicine residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, that he realized dermatology, not cardiology, was what he really wanted to do when he grew up.
Dermatology struck a chord with Dr. Thrash. From the medical mission trips in Guatemala and Peru where he saw mothers bring their children from miles away to discuss their spots and infestations, to the countless blurry text message pictures his friends and family have sent him in hopes of diagnosing and curing their skin ailments, people care about their skin. A lot.
In dermatology Dr. Thrash is able to teach his patients while treating them. He has seen first-hand this education pay off as they make healthier choices. Dermatology offers something for the science nerd, the do-gooder, and the athlete that make up Dr. Thrash's personality.
Luckily, and in no small measure armed with an ethic his ranch hand parents instilled in him, Dr. Thrash worked hard in medical school earning a 4.0 grade point average and AOA membership which made it possible to apply for the residency in dermatology at BUMC which he completed in June of 2013.
Dr. Thrash is very grateful to have found an occupation he is so rewarded by.

Was more interested in impressing interns than helping his patient. It was awkward & weird. Didn't know Dermatologists could get the "God Complex" you hear some surgeons do until, I visited Dr. Trash. Did not return for treatment because his bedside manner was so awful.

What I like about Breck is he's very relatable. Easy to talk to about touchy matters. He takes the time to listen to your concerns and comes back with excellent advice. He also cares about your overall health. He makes recommendations, knowing there can be a plan B is the first option doesn't work out. He takes his time and does not try and rush you out. Truly a great listener. My favorite Dermatologist in over 30 years of seeing some of the best in Dallas.

It was odd at first because even though they had my chart, and this was my third visit, they didn't know what treatment I got last time. So, I ended up getting something different than last time which I didn't realize until they started the procedure. When I told a nurse, she said it's okay. I mean I didn't think it was a big deal, but if it doesn't work so well then, it will become a big deal. When the Dr. Thrash came into a patient room, he noticed my voice was not great. He asked if I had cold, and he was hoping not to catch it from me since he is just getting better from whatever he had. I didn't really mind, but I don't think that's really a good thing to say. He can think that way, but is it really necessary to say out loud? It's like saying don't get me sick. Oh, well. Everything else was fine as usual.

Dr Thrash provided several choices for my treatment which ultimately saved me money with the same results. He also pointed out precancerous areas and suggested treatment. Although covered by insurance if in network and after deductibles are met, I have chosen to have Dr. Thrash provide my treatment.
