About Dr. Kent Aftergut

A board-certified dermatologist and native Texan, Dr. Kent Aftergut is the founder of Dermatology Associates of Uptown in Cedar Hill, Texas. He is a former Clinical Instructor of Dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Dermatology teaching the residents at Parkland Hospital for nine years and served as president and vice president of the Dallas Dermatologic Society. Dr. Aftergut was selected for inclusion on the 2019 Texas Super Doctors list from 2014 to the present and he has earned 2019 Texas Super Doctors Hall of Fame status for being nominated more than 10 years running. He has also been featured on CNN, in the New York Times, The Associated Press, and Dallas Morning News, just to name a few. Dr. Aftergut graduated magna cum laude from the University of Texas. He attended the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he graduated with honors and membership in the honorary medical society, Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Aftergut completed an internship in internal medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas prior to completing his residency in dermatology at the University of Texas Southwestern Department of Dermatology. Dr. Aftergut’s professional interests include infections diseases, psoriasis, eczema, rashes, skin cancer screenings, detection and treatment, and surgical and cosmetic dermatology. Dermatology Associates of Uptown and Dallas Associated Dermatologists are members of the elite Platinum Dermatology Partners network, and Dr. Aftergut is a member of the all-physician Clinical Advisory Board. Dr. Aftergut has been named a top dermatologist by D Magazine in 2011-2014 and 2016-2024.
