After attending medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston – and then completing a four-year residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas - Dr. Shoemaker joined Dr. Bernhardt Rothschild and Dr. James L. Barnard, Jr. in Corpus Christi, Texas to form the first group Obstetrics and Gynecology practice in South Texas.
As his practice grew during the 1980's, Dr. Shoemaker became a very skilled laparoscopic surgeon. He realized that sophisticated, operative laparoscopy could lead to quicker recovery for his patients, with much less pain. He also concluded that with minimally invasive procedures, not only was the patient’s hospital stay reduced, but they able to return to their normal activities within days, instead of weeks.
When performing a laparoscopic hysterectomy, Dr. Shoemaker often has his patients back to work – without any restrictions – in as little as seven days. He is considered to be one of the leading pelvic floor reconstructive and incontinence experts in America, and is highly sought after to educate other gynecologic surgeons in his techniques.
In January 2011, Dr. Shoemaker added a new dimension to his surgical repertoire with the da Vinci Robot, which has enabled him to perform much more complicated procedures that otherwise would have to be performed using a more invasive form of surgery.
He and Bay Area Medical Center broke a world record for the most robotic procedures performed in the first year after the introduction of a robotic instrument with 384 procedures.

So annoyed at the wait time. It's just ridiculous, I get their busy but over an hour wait? Seriously? Second time coming and the first time was about a 45 minute wait. Will probably try someone else next time just because I don't have all day to wait.

The office was too cold, will bring light sweater next time. When I was called back, I went to bathroom then to the exam room. The nurse never returned to the room. The FNP came in and talked to me then left so I could change into a gown. The nurse did not come in to give me a gown or prepare the exam table. The FNP came back in to give me a gown. I realize your office is busy but the nurse should have the pt ready for the Dr or FNP. I really liked the FNP, she was very patient and answered my questions.

Dr. Stanton Shoemaker is an excellent doctor recommended by my doctor Sutter. I always felt very comfortable with him through all my visits. I had no problems with my surgery and his whole staff were always very nice and professional. Cathy was especially very helpful throughout my recovery. I could even call her cell phone. Dr. Shoemaker and his staff are wonderful! I only recommend his office when asked by friends, family, etc. He always takes the time to answer all of my questions and doesn't treat you like just another patient'. I wouldn't go anywhere else ! :)
