Edmund H. Lew, MD was born in Los Angeles and raised in the Silverlake district by his parents who are of Chinese ancestry. He attended Loyola High School and attained a BA in Psychology from the University of San Francisco. After earning his MD degree from the Chicago Medical School, he returned home to complete a 3-year residency in Family Practice at Glendale Adventist Medical Center in 1986. Dr Lew is certified by the American Board of Family Practice and has an additional certificate in Geriatric Medicine. He has held associate teaching appointments at USC Medical School and Glendale Adventist Family Practice Residency Program, and preceptorships for students from the University of Utah. He has served on various medical quality assurance committees at Glendale Adventist Medical Center and hospice agencies, and as medical director for various nursing homes. Currently, Dr. Lew is a medical provider for missionaries serving in the Arcadia Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dr Lew has been voted by the readers of local newspapers as the “Best Family Doctor in Glendale” and “Top Doc” by readership of Pasadena Magazine. He is fluent in Spanish, and has a special interest in caring for the special needs of the elderly. Dr Lew is a devoted family man who lives with his wife in La Canada. They recently became “empty-nesters” – their oldest son is married and training to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a physician. Their two younger children are both serving missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – in Brazil and Taiwan.
