More about Edward Colon, PA-C
Mr. Colón, who prefers to be called Ed, was born in Puerto Rico but raised in Queens, New York. He attended Long Island City High School. His first job, other than delivering newspapers and shoveling snow off businesses’ driveways, was as an animal caretaker at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.
Ed served with distinction in the U.S. Army for over 22 years of active military service retiring as a medical officer in 1987. Since graduating from the PA Program, he has worked in emergency medicine, internal medicine, and, for the past 20+ years, in family medicine. This is his 41st year as a Physician Assistant. Ed recently retired from Memorial Hermann Medical Group after 20 years of service; he is working on a part-time basis for Pucillo Family Medicine Clinic.
Ed has taught the BCLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) courses and directed the EMT Course at Fort Hood, Texas. He was an instructor of the Green Berets during the medical aspect of their training. He was also an instructor at an LVN Course, and, during the last four years of his military career, he taught at the PA Program from which he had graduated.
Interspersed with all this, he is an ordained minister currently serving as the senior pastor at a local church. He and his wife will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in September of this year. They have two daughters, their husbands, and six precious grandchildren. In his free time, Ed enjoys going on dates with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren.
