Dr. Edward Shen is a board certified pain specialist and anesthesiologist. He graduated with honors from Harvard University with a degree in Biochemical Sciences. Following this, he spent many years developing software for the genomics industry, in collaboration with the human genome project. He subsequently attended medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. Prior to joining the Center for Pain Management, he completed both his anesthesiology residency and pain management fellowship at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center.
Dr. Shen has an interest in minimally invasive techniques to manage pain and specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of pain conditions. This includes neck and back pain due to arthritis of the spine, abdominal and pelvic pain, complex regional pain syndrome and cancer related pain.
Dr. Shen believes in a multimodal, multidisciplinary approach to managing chronic painful conditions. He understands that each patient has unique needs and requires individualized treatment. His goal is to improve his patient's quality of life and allow them to have improved function.
