I am a Diplomate of The American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. I am a former medical correspondent for NGTV (National Greek TV), and have worked as a clinical speaker for physician education in the effective use of certain pharmaceuticals for treatment of heart disease and cholesterol disease. I know the ins and outs of the controversies surrounding various medicines, and navigate them for my patients regularly, in addition to their illnesses. I have trained medical students and medical residents. Many of the young physicians, whom I’ve trained, are now training their own students. In 2003, I was appointed as a police surgeon for the F.O.P., and serve both active and retired law enforcement. In 2006, I gave the Keynote address at the commencement ceremonies of my medical school, and was given special honors and distinctions. I am trilingual (fluent in English, Greek, and Spanish).
Internal Medicine is concerned with diagnosis and care of common and uncommon illnesses in adults, ages 18 and up. I am also very proactive in longevity, cardiac risk reduction, cardiac rehabilitation, cancer prevention and surveillance, obesity/weight loss, as well as management of chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol.
Finally, your dignity, your privacy and your rights as a patient are of utmost concern to me. I have categorically refused to participate in the use of electronic medical records, which are porous and leave both your precious identity, and your personal information vulnerable to hackers, and to the unauthorized. My patient records are a confidential tool for your care, not a tool to grow government, or commerce, or to breach your privacy. While I believe in the aggressive use of the most advanced technologies to heal with, these need to be tempered with a proper approach to patient care. I don’t treat test results, I treat patients. Technology is my servant, not my master.
