My visit with Dr. E. Stein was as always, very informative, very caring, and overall excellent patient care and service. She has been my GYN doctor for at least a dozen years. I can't think of changing her.

inherent in midwifery.
Surgery, if needed, is performed by her back-up physician, Dr. Brian Park (obstetrician/gynecologist). Elizabeth delivers at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Elizabeth Stein completed her midwifery education at Columbia
University in New York City, and holds Master's Degrees in Nursing and
in Public Health. Elizabeth has been certified by the American College of
Nurse Midwives since 1985 and is licensed in New York State. She has
extensive experience with high-risk pregnancies as well as normal
obstetrics and gynecology.

This was my first appointment with Elizabeth Stein and she was wonderful. She asked every question I could have wanted her to and was interested in all of my answers. She was also extremely warm in all of our interactions--when she saw me in the waiting room, during our session, and as I was leaving.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same for her staff. They acted as if I was a nuisance to them. I was not greeted when I arrived and when I asked any questions the lady behind the desk stared at me like I was an idiot. Both employees need to smile more and act like they want to be working there and, most importantly, be there for the patients. They also need to know more about the insurance providers they take. Thankfully, Elizabeth's aura outshone their attitudes and I will happily see her again.

I don't like that she will only give a 6-month prescription for birth control. My high deductible insurance will only pay for 1 office visit per year, so here system makes it very expensive for me.

I lost trust in Ms Stein when at 24weeks pregnant, she carelessly revealed the sex of our long awaited first child. I specifically reminded her at every appointment that we did not wish to know the sex, yet she proceeded to draw a symbol of a circle-arrow on the front page of my records, which was impossible to avoid seeing. I could avoid handwritten notes I guess but not a symbol for the gender, sitting out the for anyone to see on a backdrop of white paper!! Whilstbathos action I'm sure was not intentional, Ms Stein did not offer an apology despite my obvious upset. Her response "what do you want me to say, really??" ANYTHING!! Tell me it's a doodle, tell me it's nothing, lie even but at least try to show a little care for a devastated patient who at EVERY appointment asked you not to reveal the gender. In my opinion, the moment during labor when the carer announces the gender is one of the last genuine surprises a person can ever experience in life, and it should be such a special memory. Ms Stein has forever taken that away from my husband and I with her thoughtlessness. To say I was upset at her lack of judgment is an understatement.
My warning is this. If she can be this careless in administration and care of her patient's wishes, how careless might she be during labor or with your child? It's not a risk I am willing to take.

All I can say is that these 5-star reviews must be fake. She is by far the worst gyno I have ever been too. Rushed through my appointment, didn't listen to me, talked over me before I was done with my statements and when I asked questions on how to take my new medication, after two questions she said "What aren't you understanding? What's so difficult?"
To top it all off, she makes you go in every 6 months (real great when insurance allows a yearly visit only). I have a job that requires me to travel a TON, so when I had to postpone my appointment for the second month in a row - her office REFUSED to refill my birth control prescription, which I am on for ovarian cysts that ruptured twice on me. I had to argue - and I mean ARGUE for them to call this in. I left two messages for Dr. Stein and she never even bothered to call me back.
I would never recommend a doctor who could be so careless with someone's health just to get her money. She is only out for herself. Save yourself a headache and find someone else!!
