Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider.
As a healthcare provider, I enjoy partnering with my patients to improve their health and well-being. I am passionate about providing compassionate, stigma-free, whole person care, and working towards health equity. I also value lifelong learning and am constantly seeking out inter-professional education, including a Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship with UC Irvine School of Medicine.
In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs?
A primary care provider is a patient advocate, working in collaboration with patients toward their version of optimal health. Primary care providers must maintain a variety of clinical skills, including the assessment and treatment of physical and mental health conditions. Primary care providers are also responsible for knowing their scope of practice and referring to a specialist as indicated.
Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I am a nerd, and I study a lot in my spare time. I also believe strongly in the importance of self-care. I enjoy going to the mountains to hike or snowboard, meeting up with friends at the climbing gym, or relaxing in a yoga class.
