Recent reviews

Dr. Bergman is an exceptional practitioner. He is very easy to talk to and keeps the highest standards of professionalism.
Since this past April, I have been attempting to locate a psychiatrist in the DC area who is an expert clinician generally and understands the nuances of attention deficit disorder in adults and is current on the latest pharmacological treatments. Dr. Bergman has easily exceeded my expectations with respect to these criteria. But it is Dr. Bergman's compassionate, warm, and non-judgmental approach to treatment and unheard of responsiveness to questions/issues arising after business hours and/or between appointments that distinguish him from the average practitioner. I recommend his services unequivocally.

More about Dr. Eric Bergman, MD

I am a board-certified psychiatrist in private practice for over 35 years, I treat patients from college age through adulthood for a wide variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy, relationship problems, and work and career difficulties. My psychothrapeutic approach is eclectic, with a basis in psychodynamics, tailored to what would best treat the presenting problems most effectively. I integrate the use of medications, where clinically indicated, with the psychotherapeutic process to help relieve painful symptoms and emotional distress. When first meeting I feel it most important to do a thorough assessment, gathering a great deal of information about the patient, both present and past. This enables me to arrive at an understanding of the presenting problems and difficulties and to discuss the best approach to treatment. My office provides a warm, empathetic, and supportive environment to facilitate the therapeutic process and work. Please note that I do not provide medication management for those patients in psychotherapy with another mental health professional. When you book an initial appointment with me, it is essential we speak on the telephone to discuss your clinical situation and needs before I will confirm the appointment. This allows me to determine if my practice would be an appropriate setting for your treatment. After I am notified a new patient has made an appointment, I will phone the patient as soon as possible.
