Dr. Chen and his office staff a a cohesive group, working seamlessly together while taking the time to explain all costs, insurance coverage and most importantly, making every attempt to rush my glasses in time for an overseas trip. I was a patient of TSO many, many years ago and I am very happy to make my return a permanent one. In 3 words, "job well done"

Dr. Eric Chen grew up in the Austin suburb of Round Rock, Texas and graduated valedictorian of Round Rock High School. He received his undergraduate degree with honors from Stanford University and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Vanderbilt Eye Institute in Nashville, where he was appointed and served as chief resident. He then went on to complete the prestigious, two year medical retina / retina surgery fellowship program at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia (consistently rated among the top 3 programs in the nation). Dr. Chen practiced in Austin, Texas for a year following his retina training prior to being recruited by Retina Consultants of Houston. Dr. Chen has published over forty scientific papers, book chapters, and national meeting abstracts on vitreoretinal surgery, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and the use of intravitreal medications. His clinical and research interest include diabetic retinopathy, age related macular degeneration, and surgical disorders of the macula and retina.
