About Dr. Andreas Gonzalez
Dr. Gonzalez specializes in the medical and surgical management of diseases of the retina and vitreous, and comes to Texas to provide exceptional and compassionate care to the residents of Houston.
After earning his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, Dr. Gonzalez stayed to complete his ophthalmology residency. During his training, he served as chief resident and was also awarded for his exceptional commitment to resident education.
Dr. Gonzalez completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at the prestigious University of Southern California’s Roski Eye Institute in Los Angeles.
Dr. Gonzalez has authored and co-authored many research publications and has presented at several national meetings and conferences. Prior to joining the Mann Eye team, Dr. Gonzalez served the community of Tucson and played a vital role in training the next generation of ophthalmologists at the University of Arizona, focused particularly on the field of retina.
He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the American Medical Association.

Everything went well with my appointment except that I wasn’t seen by the ophthalmologist I booked with. I was switched to an optometrist. I moved around a lot with my schedule to be seen by an ophthalmologist on short notice and made a lengthy commute during rush-hour when I didn’t have to do this— there were plenty more optometrists appointments that were more convenient for me in other offices. I would’ve appreciated a call to let me know that I was not able to be seen by the provider with whom I booked, so I could cancel and make it a different appointment and an office that was more convenient for me. But no call was made or any message etc any contact to let me know prior to my appointment in office
