I loved Dr Balassiano , she was very patient and through at explaining everything.
I was less than thrilled at the wait time, I waited1 hour and 15 minutes after my appointment time to be seen, they seem to need more help at reception.
I will definitely return next year to see Dr Balassiano she is terrific, and hope for a shorter less anxiety causing wait in the waiting room.

She earned her medical degree from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) Faculdade de Medicina in Brazil. She then moved to the United States and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Staten Island University Hospital.
Dr. Balassiano is a part of El Camino Women's Medical Group and she is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is also a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She might be a great OB-GYN which we never got a chance to try as we were turned off by her insensitivity towards the pains of the patient and just started the procedure without proper inputs then we have to ask her to stop when pain was unbearable the requested to stop. After realizing that she apologized. We asked few mins to calm down and when we were ready by the time she had left for the day. Went just once and then switched to another OB-GYN.

Don’t waster your time here. The entire office only cares how to dig as much money as possible from you. Cannot even get a Pap smear right. The results said not enough cells collected, then I asked them to did it again to make sure it is right but was refused. When I asked if not enough sample collected how could I make sure I was alright this year. They did not care and said just came in next year. The office does not care about the patients at all. I want to visit the doctor once to address two issues. They told me for insurance billing purpose, I have to come in two days. Finally they agreed to make back to back appts for me on the same day but “cannot guarantee the doctor can finish during the time slot because of personal issues”. They said highly I would need to come in twice. All they care is how they can bill the insurance conveniently and they never omit mistakes. Don’t waste your time.

She is a gem and the best doctor in Bay Area whom I have ever met. She's very knowledgeable, expertise and above all, a very good human being!! I will surely recommend her, for whomever looking for a best sincere knowledgeable OB doctor.

She is very thorough and wants you to be informed of your options. Choices are given and aren’t biased if a low intervention option is available. That said the Dr is wholly supportive and understanding of my point of view and why I would make my decision. I was treated with respect and kindness. I was also told what was going to happen and was prepared . I was never scared or ignorant to the facts if the procedure.
That said. I could have used significantly more local anesthetic. Even after stopping and asking for more relief the procedure was painful. I wasn’t expecting for it to be pain-free but i was surprised.
I don’t blame the doctor. I’ve unfortunately had this problem in the past with other doctors as well. But, because i am so comfortable, and the Dr is very open and accommodating. I will not hesitate or be embarassed to have it be something we will discuss in the future if local pain relief is needed again.
I’m very glad Dr Balassiano took care of me.
She made sure I knew what to expect after my procedure, that I was to rest and that I wasn’t going to drive home.
Not all doctors take the time to care about such things.

I have very severe anxiety in going to the OBGYN. Like, typically crippling to the point of tears. I had a great experience, which is saying a lot. I thought she did a good job building up rapport and reducing anxiety before the pap smear.

I have to wait atleast for an hour to see the doctor for just 5 minutes. It is ridiculous, what's the point of making patients get an appointment? Very unprofessional! The actual time with the doctor feels very rushed as she is just focusing on getting to the next patient. I am having second thoughts about this office!

She is the best. I live in SF and I’ve been driving around one hour to Mountain View only for my appointments since 2016 . Dr Balassiano is the kind of doctor that takes time to get to know the patient for the best diagnosis and to build an important connection doctor-patient. I feel really comfortable and well assisted having her as my Doctor.

I like the doctor herself very much. As with most doctor's offices, the frustration is usually with admin and scheduling logistics. I was told that the office would check my insurance coverage for a certain kind of birth control and let me know after that was done so I could schedule another appointment. That didn't happen, so I had to call and track them down. Thankfully they accommodated, but it was a frustrating miss on their part. Also, their electronic check in process is a bit cumbersome. Set up for a new patient could have also been done beforehand to spare time at the office, but it appears the tablet process is the only way possible.
