Our physicians are each a “Board-Certified Physician of the Foot and Ankle.” Dr. Klein grew up in Oak Lawn, IL, and remembers always wanting to be a physician. While many people with this same memory would recall their pediatrician as a child, she remembers her podiatrist, whom she first visited at the age of 8 for a wart and later for a variety of other random foot issues throughout the years. Most importantly, she remembers always feeling better after leaving his office. As a competitive skater and part of the Miami University Synchronized Skating Team throughout college, Dr. Klein’s foot problems continued into early adulthood. Being a Division I college student-athlete for four years was an experience that had an exceptional effect on who she is today. Dr. Klein earned her Bachelor’s degree and Master’s in Exercise Physiology from Miami University. She then attended The William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, where she earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. Her residency focused on treating veterans at Long Island’s Northport Veterans Affairs Hospital, training with one of the best foot and ankle orthopedic trauma surgeons in the region. The experience of training at the VA exceeded most other training facilities, providing her with a more thorough understanding of the human body and how foot pathology is related to the rest of the body. This experience also fueled her ability to analyze complex situations and patients in the pursuit of better patient care. Her year as a fellow at the Weil Foot & Ankle Institute was spent in an intense study of surgical mastery with an emphasis on surgical research, where Dr. Weil Sr. and Jr. impressed upon her the importance of critical self-assessment in an effort to improve ourselves and the care of others, striving to enhance patient care and patient outcomes.
