This provider is not licensed in the states of CT, MA, and TX. Food is, and should be, fun! But sometimes it is challenging as well. It can be hard to make the right choices and to understand fact from fiction. We are all bombarded with nutrition information in the modern world—some of which is great, and some of which is useless or even dangerous. I enjoy the science of nutrition, and even more so the nuance of meeting my patients where they are and finding solutions with them.
I began my nutrition career after earning a Bachelor's in Dietetics from the University of Delaware, followed by an Internship in Dietetics at the same institution. I started in weight management, a truly impactful specialty. Achieving even modest weight loss, around 10% of body weight, has profound effects on overall health and on improving or avoiding diseases. In this field, I learned the intricacies of metabolism and the most successful methods to help patients meet their goals. Guidance, support, and counseling are just as important as knowing what to do when trying to lose weight. For these reasons, weight management remains a core focus of my practice.
I further specialized in Renal Nutrition and currently work in the dialysis setting, providing education and counseling to support the health and safety of my patients. For these patients, the kidneys no longer filter the blood or balance fluid status, making the diet very challenging and intricate. This experience has honed my counseling and behavior change skills even further. Along with the renal diet, I continue to help my patients with all other clinical nutrition needs, including weight management, diabetes, heart disease, and digestive issues.
Nutrition is a powerful tool, and I am now counseling with Berry Street to help more patients improve their health. Hopefully, I can help you too!
