Dr. Cheema has a great bedside manner. He is very friendly and kind, and he sincerely cares about his patients. Heis never condescending or dismissive. If you want psychotherapy, then Dr. Cheema isn't the doctor for you. He does give advice and coping mechanisms, as he sees fit or if you request them, but his main focus is finding you the right medication. He is not put-off at all by a patient asking him for a particular medication, and he will take your request into consideration. He won't automatically prescribe what you want, but he will listen to your ideas. If he agrees with your suggestion, he will prescribe it. If he rejects the suggestion, he will clearly explain why. He is also not put-off by patients giving up on medications. I gave up on four medications, each within a month of starting them (one was within a week), and it wasn't until the fourth one that he became slightly (and I mean slightly) exasperated with me. But he kept at it and kept my sensitivity to side-effects in mind and found a medication that has done me a lot of good. It's also worth mentioning that he is not dismissive of a patient who may want to avoid a medication for a more cosmetic reason. For instance, I made it clear to him from the start that I didn't want to try any medication that could lead to weight-gain. He never tried to change my mind. Occasionally he would suggest a particular medication that could cause weight gain. However, number one, he would not hide that fact. Number two, he would not push the medication on me; he would merely explain why he thought it was a good fit for me. Number three, he would not be upset in the least if I would reject the idea. And I trust Dr. Cheema's expertise 100%. My condition had been improving nicely on one particular medication. When I came for my next session, he kept the dose the same even though the standard dose is double by that point. I asked him if he could raise it, and he told me that it might not be necessary, and that he would know better in a month. Well, after a few days I figured it couldn't hurt to start taking a double dose. After three days of doubling, I felt absolutely terrible - just totally empty inside. I went back to the dose he prescribed and my condition went back to improving. Dr. Cheema is a perfect blend of compassion and expertise, and I am very happy to have found him.

Doctor was kind and professional, asked the necessary questions without being repetitive, allowed me time/space to articulate my thoughts and ask any questions, and fully explained medications and potential side effects to me. Only problemwas a bit of a wait time, but the evening hours make up for this issue.

Dr, Cheema was great... his receptionist not so much. We got there for a 6:20 appointment at 6:10 and had to wait over an hour to be seen. I understand that some times doctors get back logged but the woman workingin the front was so unapologetic about it. I first went up to inquire when my son would be seen and she said we were next. We were not next. So then my husband went up to inquire and she tried to brush him off by saying she has already spoken to me. The she told him that “an hour wait time at a doctor was normal.” It wasn’t until the end of the visit when Dr. Cheema came out that she apologized for the wait. We are going back because my son liked Dr. Cheema, I just hope we don’t have to waste over an hour to see him.

Dr. Cheema is a calm and patient professional. He is by far the most consistent and reliable psychiatrist that I have ever worked with. He is thorough and a true problem solver. He thinks critically about information instead of jumping toconclusions and has literally been a lifesaver for me. I highly recommend him. His office is also very nice, it is clean and comfortable and his receptionist is a gracious host every time I am there for an appointment.

He was a great doctor, I have only met him once so far and noticed that he really listens to you. However if he feels that a diagnosis of certain things cannot be made right away based on just the firstconsultation he will suggest things to look out for and report back to him in a few weeks before initiating a diagnosis. I really loved that about him he was not quick to give me medications or diagnose me, and he made me feel extremely comfortable talking to him and explained how everything would go during the visit as well as asking if you had any questions as well. Great Doctor I would highly recommend him. Gone to a few bad psychiatrists in the past and I can say I finally feel at ease with Dr. Cheema.

First visit. Asked some standard survey-style questions and then wrote me a prescription in an appointment that lasted maybe 20 minutes. It seemed like that was the usual procedure here. There was no mention of talk therapy or non-medicatedoptions. Doctor was nice enough, but this drugs-first approach strikes me as irresponsible and not what I was looking for.

The receptionist is very nice and prompt with service, not much wait except a brief medical sheet to fill out. Dr. Sheema is very kind, attentive and direct which makes it easy to express your concerns about whatever you’re feeling. Makesure that you bring cash or check for your copayment because the office doesn’t accept debit/credit cards.

My initial visit lasted about 12 minutes and resulted in me leaving with a prescription. Did not ask me enough questions. I do not feel that a psychiatrist should have such a short initial visit and be so keen to prescribe medications after only briefly meeting. Do not recommend.

He dismissed me. I have been under psychiatric care most of my life. My doctor is retiring and I need a new doctor to continue my treatment for various issues. He did not takecthe time to hear me out and shutme down without understanding what my problems are or how they originated. He never asked me any questions. He simply assumed that all I wanted was drugs. I walked out shaking and near tears. I have some terrible issues. One of the most self-centered people I have ever met.

As is always expected of many doctors in general, this doctor is no different. He gets paid for listening to you, not to offer solutions. Like other service agencies, he may suggest or refer you to other possible services or benefits. But you won't necessarily find answers to your medical condition. The same questions are being asked of you every time you visit him. That's probably to provide a record for the purpose of tracking your progress over time. We basically see this doctor as part of ongoing care, especially to maintain the medication and establish a medical history, for which other doctors, services, and hospitals can use as a reference point prior to treatment. That being said, we just go to a psychiatrist regularly out of duty towards other professionals entrusted to our care. We cannot expect anything more than being the subject of their study and being the recipient of the needed medication. If we don't do it, then the other pros have a right to refuse their services. Moreover, there is no certainty as to how long these doctor visits may take before finally receiving a clear and proper diagnosis. C'est la vie!......wish you the best.

Expect to wait very long in the office before you are seen. Then when you are finally seen, expect a 5-10 min visit at most, even for your initial visit. He'll explain to you that he needs to speak with everydoctor you have seen before and will have you give him their number which is not a problem since some patients I bet will lie to get a script. Anyway, when you come back two weeks later expect the Doctor to tell you he couldn't get in touch with some (maybe even all) of your prior Doctors so he cannot come up with a treatment plan until he is able to. That will take all of about 2 minutes after an hour wait. You will then go and make another appointment for 2 weeks which brings you to 6 weeks before you may get some sort of treatment plan from this doctor.
