I saw Dr. Ravichandran for several months, so I will try to provide as balanced and comprehensive review as possible.
Dr. Ravichandran obviously is very well educated and has more experience than most psychiatrists. It is easy to book an appointment and you can get appointments quickly, as opposed to booking appointments several months out for many psychiatrists. Dr. Ravichandran has a lot of knowledge about a lot of fields and topics in life. Also, Dr. Ravichandran is probably on the more affordable end for psychiatrists but you have to see him regularly for full benefit. One thing that was cool is that Dr. Ravichandran pointed out why I was having problems (career) and gave me motivation to work hard, and it was uncanny how he realized that so quickly. It gave me food for thought and changed my life direction for the better to be honest. Usually psychiatrists that manage medication do not talk about non medication stuff, in my experience.
It may be a positive or negative depending on your case, but in my experience, Dr. Ravichandran tends to be more aggressive with treatment (my pharmacist was surprised at my starting dose) but it might have been because of the severity of my condition and how treatment resistant it was which meant I felt better sooner and the frustration of nothing improving went away soon. However, at the same time, I have always been my entire life extremely sensitive to all medications but of course this all varies on your individual case. Another thing that is positive and negative is that Dr. Ravichandran is very blunt and straightforward with his thoughts which can be refreshing (if you are cool with jokes and bluntness) or unexpected (if you have seen a psychologist or therapist who focuses on being overly optimistic and emotional which - as an aside - is why I prefer CBT and other rational therapies over unhelpful psychodynamic snd emotionally bases therapies).
The negatives I would say are that the wait time can be unpredictable. Some times I waited ten minutes, other times over an hour. Additionally, the waiting room has uncomfortable chairs and it can be hard to hear because of the noise, which can be stressful. Also, the building makes my allergies bad.
Overall, Dr. Ravichandran helped me with a problem that had been going on for many years and I don't know what I would have done if I had not been able to get a same week appointment. Even if I theoretically did not benefit from any of the medications, I would still have benefited because he pointed out that my anxiety stemmed from career issues and to follow my dreams and that was invaluable.

My sons and I began seeing Dr. Ravichandran back in 2004. He has always been a good listener and involves the patient in his/her plan of care. The doctor always explains your condition and medication. He is very kind, considerable and professional, yet a pleasure and easy to talk to. I would definitely recommend Dr. Ravichandran to anyone person with behavioral health care needs.

Dr Ravichandran was very attentive and worked quickly in assessing what was needed to be done and developing a treatment plan. We expect to make adjustments along the way as treatment is an evolving process and requires feedback from the patient. I put this off for so long but I'm very happy I'm finally getting help and Dr Ravichandran was fantastic!

I really liked the Dr. And the staff I was reading other reviews about the staff I think they are great. Unless you have ever worked in a medical setting it's easy to blame them. When most of the time it's the MD giving you the time you need I never felt rushed. I also enjoyed the staff. MD has given me a lot to think about, I would like to think all of the staff I found them great. And no I have never worked with any of them but understand how things can happen.
Everyone wants there time but don't won't to wait.

Dr. G. K. Ravichandran first treated me as a Psychiatric Patient at The Psychiatric Unit at a Houston, Texas Psychiatric Hospital when I was 18 years old. After I initially beling treated by Dr. Ravichandran, I was forced to change Psychiatrists (WHICH I WAS REALLY MAD), not by my own decision, my family member was very racist and did not like the fact that Dr. G. K. Ravichandran is of Indian Origin. As an teenager, I specifically remember Dr. Ravi's (As Patients Call Him) kindness, patience, and willingness to listen. As a young adult, that good memory of Dr. Ravi, stuck with me. And after many of life's VERY TRAUMATIC VERY DIFFICULT events, I have recently sought out Psychiatric Treatment again with Dr. G. K. Ravichandran, a very reputable Psychiatrist here in Houston, Texas - who GENUINELY CARES FOR ALL OF HIS PATIENTS! I have suffered from severe Psychiatric Issues from the age of 13 to now being an adult, caused initially by my mother's suicide when I was 13 years old. Dr. Ravi is now my Psychiatrist - and I give him 5 STARS all the way! I suggest that, if you are having any Psychiatric Issues, contact Dr. G. K. Ravichandran - Shamrock Psychiatric Clinic In Houston, Texas to make an Psychiatric appointment.
