G. Gail Neffinger earned his PhD in the Experimental Analysis of Behavior from Columbia University. He is a board certified Clinical Psychologist [ABPP] and is licensed as a Psychologist & Health Services Provider by the States of New York and North Carolina.
Dr. Neffinger bases his clinical approach on empirically-derived, evidence–based modalities that are recognized as best practice for dealing with specific issues His sessions are structured, interactive and directive. Homework is an integral part of the therapeutic process.
Dr. Neffinger treats individuals aged from late teens through adulthood, as well as couples and parents with child behavior issues, His clinical specialties include: Affective Spectrum Disorders; supportive psychotherapy/psychoeducation for the seriously mentally ill and their families; and, dysfunctional relationships. He is a willing and knowledgeable collaborator with ongoing psychopharmacological interventions.
Recognizing that a good therapeutic relationship is the sine non qua for a good outcome, Dr Neffinger likes to have a phone interview with prospective clients before confirming an initial appointment. During that conversation, he will clarify his limited telepsych availability and answers questions about himself an his practice.
