Dr. Gisela Velez is a board-certified ophthalmologist and subspecialist in vitreoretinal surgery and inflammatory diseases of the eye. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from New York University and completed her residency in ophthalmology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Velez further advanced her expertise with a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at Mass. Eye and Ear, Main Campus, and holds a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University. She has special training and interests in medical, laser, and surgical treatments of the retina and uveitis. Dr. Velez has authored numerous scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals, including research on treatment for ocular inflammatory diseases, intraocular lymphoma, and novel drug delivery systems for the eye. Her involvement in research on retinal diseases includes an NIH grant focused on complications of retinal detachments.

Waited in a disgusting waiting room for 3 hours. Once I got called into the exam room they brought in ANOTHER PATIENT in the same room with me doing a different exam, and his eye was leaking fluids. This place is disgusting. Avoid.

Dr. Velez was recommended to me by a friend after I had complications after my retina surgery by another doctor. She immediately found that I had detached retina and did surgery the next day in Worcester to repair it. She saved my eye sight and I would recommend her to anybody. She is an awesome surgeon.

Dr Velez and Dr Brusie saved Me $10,000 when I had my cataract surgery done at their practice. I had been up-charged by another doctor who recommended surgery right away .
I wanted a second opinion so I gave their practice a trial. They caught something else during their testing (they somehow did more testing than the other doctors office which I noticed) and turns out I didn’t need surgery and needed some eye drops instead. My eyes are healthy and I only go for routine follow up every year - 6 years going now and my vision has never been this good!
