Dr. Bent, a native of Westmoreland, Jamaica, received the prestigious Pan American/World Health Organization Scholarship which allowed her to study community nutrition throughout Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, and Jamaica. In Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Antigua, and Jamaica, she conducted research on the country's nutritional statuses.
After coming to the United States, Dr. Bent earned her Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition, and shortly after, achieved her Master of Science in Nutrition from Lehman College. In 2021, the eternal learner received her Doctorate in Christian Counseling & Psychology
Macedonia International University, St. Albans, NY. She served as a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics' Weight Management
Practice Group, Integrative Nutrition, and Functional Medicine - Academy Diversity Leader group. It is her mission to encourage people to change their unhealthy behaviors and become
healthy citizens for the future while not compromising their cultural cuisines.
In addition to being an experienced weight management consultant, she served as Associate Director and other roles such Lead Clinical Dietitian and Weight Management at the Health + Hospitals /
North Central Bronx.
Over the years, she has been involved in implementing innovative programs and shaping new
eating behaviors. During her tenure as Principal Lead Program Organizer, she worked with other community leaders on obesity, prenatal nutrition, picky eaters, eating disorders, diabetes,
hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and cancer prevention. Dr. Bent’s work with Jacobi Medical Center's bariatric program has been featured on local TV and newspapers.
