“My visit was great until I got the news that today is her last day in the Paterson office bi change my pca today because my gyn relocated so when I heard that a gyn dr was so close by I was excited. To switch over now I wasted all off this for nothing now I have to look again we need her here at union ave please we as female patients need a woman gyn dr close by thank you”

About Karina Arrelucea
Karina Arrelucea is a Board-Certified Physician Assistant. She completed her undergraduate studies at Rutgers – The State University of New Jersey at the Newark Campus where she was a double major in Biology and Psychology. After graduation, she joined a non-profit organization called Amazon Health Project (AHP). They traveled to the Peruvian Amazon Rainforest yearly to provide free medical and dental care to indigenous communities in remote locations. Afterwards, she enrolled in a PA shadowing program abroad, completing clinical rotations in Tanzania and the Dominican Republic; focusing on Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Surgery. Simultaneously, she worked as a Medical Assistant and scribe at a Gastroenterology office for 5 years.
Karina then went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Sacred Heart University. She has a strong passion for Internal Medicine and Women's Health. During her training, she gained clinical experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology at North Central Bronx Hospital and NY Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center. Her Internal Medicine experience was obtained at Stamford Hospital, CT, Open Door Family Medical Center, NY, and a small family medicine practice in NJ. She is Board Certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Karina believes in being of service to others by providing quality healthcare to all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, education, socioeconomic, or any other status. She practices holistic and preventative care, treating the whole patient, by understanding the complex interactions of physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual aspects. Zoc Doc had her listed s a HRT provider but she isn’t. She is a primary care physician. I had to switch my PCP on my insurance card to her before the visit. Which I hesitated because she was supposed to be a HRT provider but I did it anyway so that I could get to meet with her. She told me she was didn’t prescribe HRT but she ordered all the blood work needed and even to rule out other possible diagnoses . Had it drawn right there. Great bedside manner, very informative and . knowledgeable. Also a great listener I felt comfortable sharing my embarrassing symptoms of menopause plus a huge weight gain. I appreciated her apology and her making my hour trip worth it.

I would not return to this doctor / doctor's office. I had to wait more than 30 minutes to be seen (which they did apologize for) causing my appointment for a routine check up to drag on for over an hour. The doctor also essentially gave me a sales pitch on all the services offered within their healthcare network. The whole thing was uncomfortable and felt like it prioritized profits over caring for me as a patient. I also had to do a virtual video appointment just to get blood test results, which added an additional unexpected charge.

It's annoying and so discriminating when you're honest about your mental health and you keep getting asked about STD's. If I said no the first time, it's a no. Don't ask me again and if I'm sure. I said no. Mental health does not equal promiscuity.
