It was an excellent visit. Dr. Harris is very thorough and courteous. I have been seeing him for a long time. His service is consistently helpful. He has helped me through difficult life changes.
I have been seeing Dr. Harris for a few years to deal with a few bouts of severe depression. He is the most compassionate and well-informed doctor I have every been to. He takes his time to answer any questions you may have and thoroughly explains your options and his thoughts on the recommended treatment. His care of, and commitment to his patients is exemplary. He readily listens to any suggestions you bring to the table and is open to 'thinking outside the box'. Anyone who has him as their provider is very fortunate.

More about Dr. Gregory Harris, MD, MPH

I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with training in psychiatry integrated in primary care settings, substance use disorders and public health. I started my career in integrated primary care practice at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and was an early adopter of health information technology in clinical practice. I am strongly committed to both individual and systems concerns, and advocated for mental health parity, fairness in access to mental health services and on payment reform, both locally and nationally for over 20 years. I have been active in organized medicine since my residency training, both at both the local level (I currently serve as Vice Chair of Interspecialty at the Massachusetts Medical Society and am a Past President of the Massachusetts Psychiatric Society) and national levels (I currently serve as Chair of the Committee on RBRVS, Coding and Reimbursement of the American Psychiatric Association and am an Alternate Advisor to the Relative Value Update Committee of the American Medical Association). I have given expert testimony to state and national legislators and served on several state task forces regarding technology, mental health parity and health policy issues. I have also served as an independent expert advisor and consultant to providers, health plans and individual providers on issues of technology adoption, mental health parity and coverage for mental health services. I currently serve as Associate Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts and maintain a small outpatient clinical practice in Brookline, MA.

I had no prior experience working with a mental health professional, which compounded my anxiety during my first visit. Dr. Harris was immediately able to make me feel comfortable not only in his presence but in my decision to seek help. His ability listen and express empathy is really what stood out in our first meeting. He has a friendly, yet highly professional demeanor. He also has a wonderful way of relaying scientific, technical medical information in a way that doesn't required a medical degree to comprehend.
