Von Weiss Dermatology Center is a full-service private dermatology clinic located in Salem, Massachusetts. Established in 1969 by Dr. John von Weiss, the practice has grown to include a staff plastic surgeon and a full-time nurse practitioner. In 1998, Von Weiss Dermatology Center changed ownership from Dr. John von Weiss to his son, Dr. Hans von Weiss. Dr. Hans von Weiss received his Bachelor of Science degree from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. From there, he went on to graduate studies at Boston University, and graduated in 1990 as a Doctor of Osteopathy from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his office-based residency at Von Weiss Dermatology Center and went on to work for Athens Dermatology Center in Athens, Ohio, and Freeport Clinic in Freeport, Illinois. In 1998, he returned to Von Weiss Dermatology Center as a full-time dermatologist, assuming ownership of the practice in 1998. A recipient of the American Osteopathic College of Dermatology Oclassen Pharmaceutical Resident Research Paper Award, Dr. Hans von Weiss believes in professional development and continually works to improve the quality of the Von Weiss Dermatology Center and its staff. In 2009, he welcomed Elizabeth “Lisa” Crawford, a Nurse Practitioner, to the team. A certified nurse practitioner with experience in dermatology, Ms. Crawford is a member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the Dermatology Nurses’ Association.
