Dr. Hasan Bahrani is a surgeon and vitreoretinal specialist attending at The National Retina Institute (NRI). He is a specialist in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of retinal diseases including Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Retinal Detachment, Macular Hole, Macular Edema, Arterial/Vein Occlusion, Advanced Retinal Detachment from Retinopathy of Prematurity, including Open Sky Vitrectomy, Stickler’s Syndrome, Coats’ Disease, Ocular Trauma, Ocular Inflammation or Uveitis.
Dr. Bahrani graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (with Honors). He earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Galveston. Dr. Bahrani then completed his preliminary internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, followed by residency training in Ophthalmology there. Following residency training, Dr. Bahrani undertook a fellowship program in vitreoretinal surgery at the Harvard Medical School Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Hospital & Massachusetts General Hospital, in Boston. Dr. Bahrani's fellowship included training in the vitreoretinal surgery management of pediatric retinal diseases.
He was a member of the Dean’s List from 1997 – 2001, and the recipient of multiple awards including the prestigious Princess Basma of Jordan Academic Excellence Award in 1995.
Dr. Bahrani is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, The American Society of Retina Specialists and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, among others.
Dr. Bahrani has published several articles and abstracts in peer-reviewed journals. In his free time, Dr. Bahrani enjoys spending time with his family.
