I have been seeing Dr Gahr for the last two years and continue to see him after I moved away from the Upper East Side. Dr Gahr has always treated me with care and great attention to detail. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends and family.

My first priority is always the patient. You get CONCIERGE service for no extra charge.
I am easily reachable on nights and weekends. The office phone is forwarded directly to my personal cell phone.
I do everything myself--take your blood pressure, pulse, etc. You will not be shunted off to an assistant. I am a board certified internist--many internists/pcps are not.
Unlike most doctors who have patients fill out medical health checklist forms in advance I personally take your medical history. After we are done in the examining room we talk in my consultation room so that I can insure that all your concerns are properly addressed.

Very friendly and on time. Before he did anything we had a discussion and an actual consultation! He asked many questions and continued to probe in a polite way to ensure that he could correctly diagnose the issue. I will be coming back to this doctor in the future.

Dr. Herbert Gahr has been our primary physician over the past four years, and we both think that he has been the best family physician we have ever known during our lifetimes... and Jean is a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner from St. Luke's Hospital, NYC. First of all, Dr. Gahr has always taken a holistic view of our medical issues and has treated them on a coordinated basis with other doctors and Lenox Hill Hospital, which is is affiliated with. Second, Dr. Gahr is a very smart and thorough doctor in diagnosing and treating our various medical conditions. Third, Dr. Gahr has always referred both of us to top medical specialists and hospitals for evaluation and treatment. Fourth, Dr. Gahr has always been available, even over weekends, for emergencies like brain seizures and infections. I could not imagine going to any doctor other than Dr. Gahr. I have been a patient of Dr. Gahr's for many years. Diligent and meticulous, he always knows exactly which medicine to give me or, when necessary, follow up tests. He calls back quickly even on nights and weekends. His specialist referrals are excellent.
