Typically I experience some form of panic attack whenever I try a new therapist. Dr. Hancock is the best person I have ever encountered. My partner recommended her and I began our session very nervous, and almost apprehensive. But she had this incredible way of making me feel at ease. I trust her, and I've felt comfortable telling her lifetime struggles I've never felt comfortable talking about before. I used to feel vulnerable and... ashamed? talking about my past. I walk away from our sessions slightly on edge, but after I reflect on her dialogue and guidance, and I internalize my thoughts for awhile I feel... empowered! Because the thing is, she makes me feel relaxed now. I never feel pressure from her. She's relatable. I feel less like i'm talking to a professional who might judge me, and more like im talking to a friend who wants me to be happy. We've been seeing one another for almost a year this month, and I hate to say that she's been helping me so much I don't feel the need to see her quite as frequently anymore. It's a true testament to her ability and skills to say I might not have to see her anymore.
Dr Hilary was just the right balance for me of: listening to understand my problems and giving me thoughtful insights into how things can change. I started working with her years ago during a breakup and stayed long after to go deeper into some more entrenched old patterns. I still sometimes go in to see her as needed, and I'm always amazed at how much better and more in control I feel afterwards. She takes things I bring to her that feel insurmountable and helps me find a path through them. She's truly gifted at this, and I don't know what a different person I'd be without her support.

Dr. Hilary was warm and easy to talk to. It’s only been one session, but she seemed genuinely invested in getting to know me and my concerns. I already feel a little better just having a plan.
I cannot say enough good things about my first visit with Dr. Hilary. My fiancé and I saw her recently for our first session of pre-marital counseling and plan to continue meeting with her based on that experience. From the moment I spoke with her on the phone and booked our first appointment, I knew we had made the right choice. Dr. Hilary is extremely personable and understanding. Right away my fiancé and I both felt comfortable talking to her as if we'd known her for years. I found her to be very good at seeing multiple points of view and helping us to get on the same page with some topics that we've been struggling with recently. All in all, I left the appointment feeling inspired and excited to look at our relationship in a new perspective.
After a couple of fails during a time of need we finally found Dr. Hilary. Her knowledge and expertise were apparent (we saw her regularly for over a year). Her humanity and kindness allowed us, even during contentious discussions, to be able to accept that knowledge and expertise. She balanced empathy with guidance beautifully. Being in the medical profession and past the midway point in my life I have worked with many therapists- individually, family, couple- in both a professional and in a personal capacity when the need arose. Dr. Hilary Hancock is on a very short list of the best I have worked with and who I recommend to others. If your goal is truly to get to the heart of an issue and to work toward resolution in a safe and kind environment I highly recommend her.
