“I started working with Dr. Chen during one of the lowest points in my life, and I truly cannot overstate how grateful I am to have found her. She offers deeply compassionate, thoughtful care and creates a space where I feel genuinely heard and understood. What makes her stand out is that she integrates real talk therapy into medication management, rather than treating them as separate lanes. She is incredibly knowledgeable about medications, but she also takes the time to understand the full picture of who you are and what you are going through. Her cultural awareness and understanding of the unique pressures facing women and people of color have meant more to me than I can express.”

“As someone who had never seen a psychologist before, I was a bit nervous going into my first session. However, from the very beginning, Dr. Chen made me feel completely at ease. She has a welcoming presence that immediately put me in a space where I felt safe to open up. What I especially appreciate is how she incorporates positive affirmations into our sessions. It’s something I hadn’t experienced before, and it’s really helped me shift how I speak to and think about myself. She’s attentive and always listens without judgment, which has been vital to me as I learn to navigate therapy for the first time. Furthermore, one of the things I deeply appreciate is her understanding and sensitivity to cultural norms. She never makes assumptions and takes the time to understand where I'm coming from, which has helped me feel seen on a deeper level. I’m grateful for her support and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a skilled and affirming psychologist.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients can expect to leave sessions feeling seen, respected, and better understood—not just as individuals with symptoms, but as whole people shaped by their relationships, environments, identities, and histories. I aim to create a calm, curious, and nonjudgmental space where insights can emerge naturally, and where we can make sense of distress in the context of each person’s unique biopsychosocial story. My goals are often to enhance self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and increase a sense of agency. Clients can expect to gain both clarity and tools—so they’re not just surviving but thriving.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

What to Expect in a Session Sessions are comprehensive, collaborative, and designed to provide high-quality psychiatric care. As a board-certified psychiatrist with fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry, I offer a premium level of care that integrates medication management with psychotherapy tailored to your unique mental health needs. Each session includes: Diagnostic Clarification: We explore your full history and symptoms to arrive at a clear, accurate diagnosis. I also provide second opinions for complex or treatment-resistant cases. Thoughtful Medication Management: Medications are prescribed with care and discussed thoroughly. My approach is intentional, evidence-based, and always collaborative. Therapeutic Support: Sessions include integrative psychotherapy—blending psychodynamic insight with practical strategies to foster self-awareness, emotional growth, and meaningful change. Flexible Structure: For clients who prefer less frequent appointments, I offer biweekly sessions with ongoing availability for questions and check-ins between visits. This is care designed to go beyond symptom management—offering a deeper, more personalized path to clarity, healing, and sustainable well-being.

I greatly enjoyed my session with Dr. Chen. She took the time to listen—not just to my symptoms, but to my story. I felt deeply validated, like she really saw the full picture of what I was going through. This wasn’t a quick medication visit—it was thoughtful, collaborative, and grounded in real care. I left feeling lighter, clearer, and genuinely hopeful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for both expertise and compassion.
She was very easy to talk to. She made me feel comfortable and was willing to delve deeper into my issues. I would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a psychiatrist who also does therapy.
Dr. Chen was prompt, and spent over the 45 mins scheduled with me to listen attentively to my current health concerns. She provided a clear explanation for what I may be dealing with and went over different treatment plans for me. I opted to continue weekly therapy sessions with her and this has been going well. I appreciate that she creates a safe space for me each week.
