I had a sudden, large onset of a great number of floaters in one eye. There are just too many to completely eradicate but Dr Johnson has been able to reduce the larger and darker ones to a degree so that I can tolerate this condition. I may come back for more treatments over time but it has helped substantially, especially when there are no other alternatives.

James H. Johnson MD is also known as "The Floater Doctor" and for good reason: He is the only ophthalmologist in the world EXCLUSIVELY focused and specializing in the treatment and management of eye floaters and has been doing so since 2007.
He attending Dartmouth and Brown Medicals schools and re-paid his military scholarships serving as a brigade surgeon in Germany. Dr. Johnson has worked in general ophthalmology and laser refractive surgery practices in California before committing his entire career, and world-wide professional reputation to the treatment of this often-ignored, but important condition.
The typical experience with eye floaters involves an eye exam to reassure the patient that they do not have any retina pathology such as holes, tears, or detachments. It might include a discouraging discussion of an invasive surgical procedure to remove all of the vitreous fluids which almost always leads to cataracts and more surgery.
Dr. Johnson uses a non-invasive YAG laser to vaporize and destroy the clumps and aggregates of vitreous collagen proteins to reduce the 'bothersomeness' of the moving shadows, clouds, and strands that are the eye floaters. It is all about improving the quality of vision, something that mainstream eye care still hasn't recognized.
As of 2023, he has over 13,000 procedure performed and is sought out internationally for his experience. He can be easily found on social media including extensive educational videos on YouTube as "The Floater Doctor".
