He listened to my feedback about my current medication and my recommendation for a new one based on a low copay, but gave me samples of another medicine to try that he feels has a lot less side effects first and gave me coupons because he feels the other medicine is not in my best interest. Very kind and caring and competent dr. Staff is also very good.

Dr. Welch completed his undergraduate education at the University of Florida, graduating in 1978 with high honors in Biomedical Sciences. He was selected for the Junior Honors Medical Program at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed medical school in 1982. He performed a one year internship at East Carolina University Medical Center, then returned to Gainesville where he completed two years of General Surgery residency and a three year residency in urology. He then went on to complete advance post graduate training with a one year fellowship in urologic oncology at UF Shands Hospital and Clinics.
He is a member of the American Urological Association, Southeastern Section of the American Urological Association, Florida Medical Association and Florida Urological Association. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and on staff at Orlando Regional Health System, Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women, Dr. Phillips Hospital, Same Day Surgery Center; he has served as chief of the Urologic Oncology Consultant Staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Welch was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1991. He has served as President of the Orlando Metro Chapter of the American Cancer Society. He has served as coordinator of the ACS "Man to Man" prostate cancer support group.
Dr. Welch has published articles in various medical journals, including the Journal of Urology. He has given multiple educational presentations to various community organizations. He continues to serve as a speaker for continuing medical education programs for physicians and other health care providers.
Dr. Welch provides the full spectrum of urologic care with a special emphasis on urologic cancer treatment, including the newer laparoscopic minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotic prostatectomy procedures. He also has expertise in female urology and the treatment of male and female urinary incontinence.

Dr. Welch is an excellent physician. He spoke to me and my wife like we are actually real people, not mere anonymous "patients." He explained my condition and answered our questions in easy-to-understand terms. He has a somewhat low-key personality. That's not a criticism; it's an observation.

The visit was great, there was some confusion about my appt time, but they saw me anyway, and I didnt have to wait .
