Saturday appointments with a PCP? Can't beat that.
I've been here a few times and thought I would write this so others can have a better idea when making a choice regarding who they wish to entrust with their care. The experience is subpar. This is not to say that there is bad medical care or that they hand out the wrong drug. What I mean is that you will experience considerably more frustration and time wasted relative to an average medical clinic. The staff are polite but unhelpful: they will not be rude to you but at the same time you might spend a few hours waiting because they mixed the schedule, or you may have to drive half an hour to another clinic to pick up a prescription because they made a mistake on your labs. The doctor himself will spend little time with his patients and does not have very good bedside manners, to the point of being unprofessional. It's hard not to notice the indifference when interacting with the staff; this is a private clinic and it seems as though Dr Zelch is content with his current patient base so he (and by extension his staff) are not concerned with patient satisfaction. I've only stayed so far because I travel frequently and it would have been too much of a hassle to switch providers. However, this changed when I noticed a tendency to order unnecessary tests by Dr Zelch, tests which are not wrong to order, but ethically in a gray zone. What I mean is that when a physician orders a test, she/he needs to compare the cst of the test to the potential value of information it provides. When a test is ordered even though the physician already knows the results, all that does is leave the patient with a bill, even though that test has no effect on their care. This is a very basic tenet of healthcare which is lacking at this clinic. I'm not saying that there's something terrible going on here, I'm just saying that when you are choosing a provider, you may want to consider other options.
The staff was very unprofessional and rude. I was told to have my kids picked up and or I had to reset my appointment due to a physical being mandatory and then sat naked in a paper gown and was never looked at simply spoke to from across the room. The doctor made jokes about how he wouldn't be able to figure out what was wrong with me and then simply tried to prescribe me 5 medications for depression, anxiety, and muscle relaxers??!! I then was escorted to a counter to receive a plastic drinking cup with my name written on it for a urine sample and then when done was Rudely told to place my OPEN cup next to the 7 others on the counter that were simply being contaminated by the air and everything in it. Oh and did blood work I see for a drug abuse screen yet prescribed me controlled substances lmao that I said I wouldn't take and never have. Then after waiting 30 minutes in the lobby to "check out" which was nothing just a visit summary I had to pay $30 for being 15 mins late in the beginning for my daughters appt and I was to follow and she never even was seen.
Didn't seem to want to hear what I was trying to tell him. Seemed to only care about collecting the money
That results in his staff are so friendly I feel comfortable going there and knowing that all my questions will be answered makes me feel very happy that I chose this practice
It was horrible and he's the worst doctor I've ever seen. He's not compassionate, friendly, or accurate.
Had some issues with paperwork but the staff went out of their way to make sure that it was resolved. Very courteous and professional
Very friendly; as well as his staff! :)
Everything was fine besides the waiting
Very Pleasant and accommodating staff.
I thought the staff was excellent! I thought i was gonna have to reschedule for issues with my insurance, thankfully they were able to keep my appointment. The nurse who did my EKG was very friendly. Dr Zelch himself was very professional and listened to my concerns and made sure I was prescribed the appropriate medications. Definitely keeping him as my pcp.
This doctor is clearly running a pill mill. Does not listen to patients or actually treat them instead he will prescribe the meds of your choice.
I had to wait more than 2 hours to see the doctor.
This Dr is a Jerk.
Very thorough and pleasant. Evening hours limited
it was good he did what I wanted him to do
Waited with hours in the waiting room before just leaving. Waiting room was freezing and cramped. Terrible espierencr
He was nice, professional, but he was very busy and I waited for. Long time 90 minutes before I saw him.
good energy, friendly personable staff. comfortable experience all around
I have been seeing this physician for over a year. He is rude and short (he does not even look at you). It seems like they are just in it for the money. Staff and quality of care are the worst I have ever experienced (I work for a physician). I will never go there again!
Caring physician who listened to what I had to say about my health concerns.
Dr was great. Front office staff was not very friendly.
The waiting room is like a sauna and smells horrible! It's not clean at all. The receptionist is a joke has 3 or 4 cell phones in front of him and taking calls on all of them. Opens the drawer to get me some paper work and there's s half eating McDonald's sandwich laying there in the same drawer is the paperwork they are handing out to people. Also the place is run down. I come here for a ear infection. So I get called back. And I tell him what's wrong. And the nurse (male) nice guy As I'm sure he's just following doctors orders. Wants to check my sugar. Wants to take blood from me. Wants me to pee in s cup. And wants me to get undressed from the neck down and put a gown on! For a ear infection??? I refused everything except check my sugar. Told them I had to leave. Got my insurance cards and left. Called my insurance company and told them what a joke this place was and what they wanted to do. They made note of it if they Bill me for other than what was done. This place is a disappointment! Plus I tried to call this place for 3 days and got a recording about how they were experiencing high call volume and to try back later. Lie!!
It was a bit of a wait because he is that good. You will have to wait to see him but he is very good.
Doctor and staff all made me feel comfortable and kept me at ease. All of my concerns were addressed to my satisfaction. I was really disappointed with the waiting room, and the length of time I waited for my appointment. The waiting room is so small, you have no choice but to sit close enough to be able to smell the person next to you, and I had to wait more than an hour after my appointment time. I've waited longer for doctors who don't give a shit, so I still recommend him. Just be prepared for a long wait.
The staff was so wonderful! I was seen pretty fast and felt like my concerns were actually treated as concerns.
Very professional and attentive.
Doc was very nice. Seems like a good guy. Lady out front was very busy but very professional. It's a good crew, give'em a try if you need to see a doctor!
Very knowledgeable, informative and sympathetic. Clearly communicates the plan. Treated my suffering on the spot and laid out a long-term, objective plan (not just what some paper says to do). Highly recommended!
I read a lot of bad things about this dr before going there and was pretty nervous about it, but when I got there, I was at ease, everyone is friendly, we always wish each other good day, weekend, but I have I have to say...the things I read were incorrect....don't believe everything you read.....
Great service and communication!!
Dr. Zelch is great and his staff were really nice.. I will definitely be going back.
It was disappointing. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Have a terrible migraine and my experience and how I was treated as a patient was quite upsetting and even infuriating. I won't be back.
The staff was completely rude, and very disrespectful and recommended that I switch them as my primary care physician or I would not be seen, which makes no sense to me at all.
I had my first appointment with Dr. Zelch today and was very pleased with my visit! I found Dr. Zelch to be very easy going yet attentive and professional. Outstanding bedside manner! He took time in listening to all of my medical questions and concerns and discussed how we will go about addressing them. He seemed like a genuinely caring and kind human being who is dedicated to helping others. In addition, he and also had a good sense of humor! Short wait time, friendly staff, excellent Doctor. I think I found my new PCP!
Very unprofessional girls that work in this office they act like your presence is bothersome to them, last thing I want to deal with after waiting over 3hours at the appointment twice! I will never go back ever
The doctor is super attentive to patients needs and very thorough. He was always smiling and cheerful.
- Extremely long wait. - Made lots of errors (billing, referral, ...) during first appointments - Didn't explain about procedures and charges beforehand
The website gave me some national call center number which could not help me find the building. Which was a tiny store front between a jimmy johns and CVS. I had to call them to direct me to it after having to google the number. I had an appointment but when I got there I had to fill out some seriously sketchy PHI disclosure papers, and they told me that I had to sign away my choice to voluntarily have my urine tested randomly as I come in. Like some criminal at their probation officer. Then the Dr finally came in 3 hours after my appointment time. They made me do all sorts of tests and gather all kinds fluids, and they never gave me a clear answer as to what they were looking for. Their bathroom to get the urine sample was filthy and the nurse never washed her hands. I will not be returning to him.
Doctor was great, but his nurse and staff are rude. They made me feel like I am their burden even though I paid to be cared.
Nice friendly staff. Addressed all of my concerns and im confident they'll help me with the issues im having.
I got there early and I understand that they are coming from the other side of town so that there was going to be a wait. I liked the girls and I liked the Doc he was understanding being my first visit there were things that he had to get done. he has many that come to that site.
This office has a huge problem with answering their phone. It is nearly impossible to reach anyone, I found this very frustrating.
Dr. Zelch was awesome. His staff were super nice. The office was nice and smelled great for a doctors office. Listened to my needs and symptoms and treated accordingly.
I thought that Dr. Zelch was a very good doctor, however i called four times to have my inhaler refilled. Every time i called i was told "Thats fine we will send it over to the pharmacy." I wait several hours to give them time to send it over, i call the pharmacy and it was never sent over. Like i said the doctor is very good, and even the reception is good. I just think there is some type of issue when it comes to having those prescriptions refilled.
The staff was pleasant enough but waiting 2 hours after your scheduled appointment time before you're seen by anyone is absolutely ridiculous
Twice now I have waited over an hour before even being put in an exam room. The whole place just seems unprofessional. Annual physical required a follow up appointment to say that my bloodwork came back normal. Couldn't that have been accomplished with a phone call? Won't be coming back.
Not returning. It was cold, smelly and poor service.
I went to the office because I suspected I had shingles. He came in asked where the rash was, I showed him. He then asked about my blood sugar which at the tine was high. I informed him of the reason and infirmed it would be raken care of ince I git home to take my insulin. He demanded I go to the ER immediately & refused to see or treat me for shingles.
Love how they address your needs and make sure that you are helped and covered properly.
Wait time was bad, but med assistant and phlebotomis very nice and professional. Front desk staff unfriendly. Received another person's scripts in my paperwork!! One for Hydrocodone, one for diazepam, the scripts also included the patient's name address and phone number! I would not be happy if my info was given to somebody else...
It was excellent. All my questions were answered and not ignored.
Everyone there were nice and very professional I felt very comfortable there and I'm looking forward to my return.
I appreciate all Dr. Zelch is doing to help me with my anxiety and my pain.
I loved my first experience !!!
He was a great doctor. Not only did he listen but he addressed each problem.
Only complaint was the wait time. I don't like receiving appointment reminders saying I will be charged $30 if I'm 15 minutes late then waiting 2 hours to see the doctor.
It's nice to find a local Dr.'s office where the staff listens, is open & accepting. All of my questions were answered. Never felt anyone was rushing to get out of the exam room even though the office seems to keep busy.
Dr. Zelch was very through and professional. He treated my problem same day. I would highly recommend his.
Great staff, good visit.
Staff was very helpful. They were also very friendly as well. Doctor was very nice and informative. Will come back no problem.
The office is kind of run down. There were two ladies manning the front desk, both dressed unprofessionally. One of the desk chairs was missing an armrest. They don't take credit, so I had to walk down to an ATM to cover the copay. The actual doctor's behavior was fine, and looked a bit like a disheveled Dr. House.
Super long wait. The doctor is great but his staff is awful, unfortunately. I had an awful experience with a blood draw and I'm pretty sure the staff member didn't even tell the doctor.
Staff was bad
I would not wasted my time with this guy. First of all he overbooks so the wait was over two hours (two visits total, two hour wait each time). The office staff is very rude and acts like you are bothering them. I am definitely not a complainer and never leave reviews on sites like this, but I feel i had to vent on this one. At my second appointment they didn't send one of my prescriptions over to the pharmacy and when i called they told me I had to wait until the end of the day for him to send it over even though I saw him in the morning ( i was very sick and needed medication asap). Additionally, the first two times i called to inform them that they missed sending one in, i was A: put on hold for five minutes before hanging up and B. was hung up on after the receptionist greeted me. After the third time they were able to finally field a phone call properly. Yesterday I called him to have him fill a refill over the phone since i was going on vacation and couldn't make it in there. The receptionist said no problem and they would call me if they had any issues otherwise they would send it over for me. Of course i show up at the pharmacy and they never sent anything over. Bottom line is I think this guy is just squeezing in as many appointments as possible for a cash grab. He doesn't seem like he cares about the patients. If you see him expect a two hour wait, rude service, and uncertainty that they can call in a simple prescription to a pharmacy. Vent over.
He is very laid back and actually listens to what you have to say.
Dr Zelch was very nice, I wouldve liked it if he had spent a few minutes more asking me about myself, but on the whole it went very well.
Very personable and caring. Great bedside manner. Able to take care of my medical condition promptly and explained what he was doing.
Dr Zelch was informative and listened to what I had to say and the nurse was very nice as well. Will be back for sure.
The nurses are super kind and friendly! The Doctor was very good as well.
Loved him got everything started right away for me.
The front desk girls are so disrespectful and unprofessional!!!
Awesome doctor and staff. Very laid back. Made me feel comfortable. Will be seeing him from now on!
My first visit was great. the nurse I had was soo cool and funny she kept me comfortable until the doctor came in. When doctor James came in, he was very down to earth. He knew what I was going through. I didn't have to say much. He prescribed me with the best medication for my illness. I will be back and I highly recommend his services.
I don't quite know yet, He is easy to talk too and he listen to what I had to say and then followed through with repeating what I said. I really thought he had my best interest at heart. He also suggested other locations to see him at the Clawson office.
Awesome, thorough...I felt comfortable.
very busy office, seems like dr was rushing and didn't really want to listen to all my concerns regarding my health.
Great doc! Listens to everything and has excellent bedside manner. Highly recommended!
I was very happy, The staff was excellent. Very nice.
Can't complain. Addressed each issue genuinely cared. Office is ok but staff is professional and everyone was more than nice.
