Dr. J. Pieter Hommen is board certified and fellowship-trained in sports medicine and advanced arthroscopy of the shoulder, hip and knee. He specializes in injuries and arthritis of the shoulder, hip and knee.
Dr. Hommen's interests include arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, hip, knee, ankle and foot. Dr. Hommen teaches arthroscopic surgery regularly as an Associate Master Instructor at the Orthopedic Learning Center in Rosemont, Chicago for the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). His shoulder interests include arthrosopic labrum repairs, rotator cuff repairs, SLAP repairs, shoulder instability repairs, interpositional graft repairs for massive rotator cuff repairs, as well as total shoulder replacement surgeries. In the field of hip arthroscopy, Dr. Hommen specializes in CAM and PINCER impingement resections, labrum repairs and refixation procedures, iliopsoas tendon releases, trochanteric bursectomies, iliotibial band releases, gluteus repairs. His interests in knee arthroscopic surgery include include meniscus repairs, cartilage restorative procedures, autologous chondrocyte implantations, meniscus transplantations, anterior cruciate ligament and posterior cruciate ligament reconstructions. In the ankle and hindfoot subtalar joint, Dr. Hommen performs arthroscopic cartilage restorative procedures and impingement resections.

Everything about my visit was a pleasure. With my previous ortho, I would wait hours to be seen for 5mins. Dr. Hommen actually spent time actually listening to me and seemed genuinely concerned. Office personnel front desk was very professional! Here in Miami people have a habit of starting a conversation in all professional fields to someone in Spanish first instead of the National language ENGLISH! In this this office its the opposite, I was greeted in English by the Dr's PA (She is from Jersey and American) that's why! Latins-have a habit of speaking to everyone in Spanish first! Not professional at all. I believe everyone in Miami should be greeted or spoke to in English first especially in the professional environment.
Enough of that... Dr Kommen is the utmost professional and explains your diagnosis in full detail and asks if needs to re-explain and is possesses excellent bedtime manners!
I am so glad I have a new doctor in Dr Kommen!!
