Dr. Prystowsky saved me from Mohs surgery that would have completely disfigured my nose, by recommending that I seek out radiation treatment as a much less invasive alternative. I am so grateful to have the Basel cell carcinoma eradicated, and my nose in tact, following radiation. I love that, with her decades of experience, Dr. Prystowsky is still eager to keep learning about new methods and new alternatives. And I love how thorough she is with skin checks, and how gracious and thoughtful and kind she always is! Truly the best!

Dr. Janet Hill Prystowsky is a board-certified dermatologist with over 15 years’ experience in Mohs Surgery. She has provided patients with comprehensive dermatologic services at her New York practice since 2002. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Prystowsky is Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology and attending physician at Mount Sinai in New York City. More recently, she has started her own skin care line as President of LIVAD Skin Care, LLC.
Dr. Prystowsky received a Bachelor of Science degree with distinction from Pennsylvania State University. She proceeded to earn two graduate degrees and a Ph.D at the Columbia University Institute of Human Nutrition. From there she attended the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, earning a medical degree with honors and becoming a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
Dr. Prystowsky completed residency training in Dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and received specialized fellowship training in Mohs Surgery through the American Society for Mohs Surgery. She has published numerous clinical and basic research papers in peer-reviewed journals and authored many chapters in textbooks.

Dr. Prystowsky did the most thorough full body skin cancer check I've ever had --and I have had them annually for 20+ years. I originally found Dr. Prytowsky on Zocdoc when I had a concerning skin rash that emerged just before a holiday weekend. She was very knowledgeable, thorough, and personable at that first appointment with her, which is why I chose to go to her for my skin check even though I know she doesn't take insurance. Same experience this time. I think she's an excellent doctor with an excellent "bedside manner." Medical and administrative office staff were very friendly and efficient, too. Highly recommend.

I went to Dr. Prystowsky for a medical problem, though I know she also does cosmetic procedures. She is exactly what I want in doctor: she listened to my concerns, she took a careful look at the issue that brought me there, she knew exactly what was wrong and explained the treatment in detail, answered my questions, told me clearly when/if I should follow up depending on how the treatment goes (and was patient as I repeated it so I'd remember). Excellent. Her assistant was also very attentive. Office staff was efficient, and pleasant. An added plus: via ZocDocI was able to book an appointment quickly the day before Thanksgiving.

Compassionate. Genuinely nice and a great listener. I had been to several doctors and some who didn't even bother to listen to my concerns and made me seem like I was crazy. She does not accept insurance but highly recommend her if you want a doctor who will listen, take her time (really take her time) and try to get to the root causes of the problem. Worth every penny

The visit with the doctor and nurse was great . I thought she was brilliant . Very friendly . She knew straight away the issue . However I was not told that each location had different rates? I was shocked by the total at the end of the visit . I have gone to two other locations and the service is excellent every time but in the other locations I paid the same price and at this location I was told “each locations has different prices. I was not made aware of this before my appointment and it was really way over my budget as some one with no insurance and currently out of work due to an accident , I wish I was aware of the price difference for different locations. But like I said the doctor was brilliant and I couldn’t fault her , it’s just a shame that I cannot not go back for my next appointment as I cannot afford to see her again.
