This was my first gynecological exam in - well, let's just say an embarrassing number of years. And despite being raised in a household where OUR BODIES, OURSELVES was on the shelf, and despite my own beliefs about autonomy and the importance of taking the lead in one's own health care, I went into this terrified. Apparently I 'm carrying a lot of shame and fear around my sexuality and anatomy. I think the intake nurse and the doctor herself could sense this, and the treatment given me was exactly what I needed - gentle, but never condescending. The exam and consultation helped me to understand that my body is "normal" and that my concerns about menopause turning me into a sexless monster are unfounded. (That probably sounds melodramatic, but I have a poetic imagination, I guess.) I'm glad I was referred to this clinic, and would definitely recommend it to others.

Janie Villarin is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner in an Ob/Gyn office with a steadfast commitment to the quality and preventive health care of women. She has more than 20 years of experience in womenâ''s health. In 1999, Ms. Villarin received her Bachelorâ''s of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia. As a registered nurse, she worked in labor & delivery, postpartum/antepartum, NNICU and infertility. In 2004, she received her Masters in Nursing from Georgetown University. She is Board Certified with the American Nurses Credentialing Center(ANCC). Before joining private practice, she worked for the National Health Service Corps in underserved communities.Ms. Villarin sees female patients age 13 and up for a variety of reasons. Types of gynecologic visits include Well Women Exams/PAP smears, vaginal/urinary infections, pelvic pain, menstrual cycle issues, PCOS, PMS, fertility, birth control, STDs and breast issues. In collaboration with Dr. Freda Jones, she alsosees all obstetric patients, regardless of risk factors. Her passion for womenâ''s health shows in the thorough care she gives and continuing desire to stay up to date in knowledge. She is an advocate for functional medicine, preferring to address the whole person and not just a set of symptoms.Ms. Villarin speaks English, Tagalog (Filipino) and Spanish. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her husband and three children.

Met two nurses and a NP. One of the two nurses was so unprofessional you wouldn’t believe it if I wrote what she said to me. It was in response to me expressing nerves about a procedure I was there to get and she said something about sexual acts. It was an insane response to a patient. The patient rooms were not very clean and on top of that there’s no privacy. They screen you in a room without a door, asking very personal questions. So, overall, I can’t recommend this office.

Restorative healthcare experience after hopping around other specialists. Only a consultation about some issues with my existing birth control, but Nurse Villarin listened, answered my questions, provided guidance, and share referrals to other relevant specialists and labs. I really appreciate the modernized waiting room, reading materials, and the authenticity of the staff - the receptionist was training someone and also kindly helping me, great patience. Wholesome environment overall. So glad I found, will definitely be growing this relationship.

There was some yelling between the staff in the hallways and talking about admin problems with each other during my blood draw. The staff was supportive when I was anxious.
