Jason M. Hurst, M.D., joined Joint Implant Surgeons in 2009 and leads the Joint Preservation Institute and Shoulder Reconstruction division. He received his bachelor's degree from Washington & Lee University, medical degree from Georgetown University, and his orthopaedic residency training at Duke University where he also worked in sports medicine research. Dr. Hurst has also completed two different fellowship programs: a fellowship in joint preservation, sports medicine, shoulder, knee, and hip arthroscopy, and shoulder reconstruction at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado and an adult reconstruction fellowship focused on knee arthroplasty at Joint Implant Surgeons. Dr. Hurst is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Piedmont Society, and he is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Hurst’s clinical interests include anatomic and reverse shoulder arthroplasty and minimally invasive total and partial knee replacement as well as arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee including rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, and joint preservation techniques. He is also eagerly involved in the development of rapid recovery pathways for outpatient total joint arthroplasty and patient-specific instrumentation for shoulder arthroplasty.

I have seen Dr. Hurst at Joint Implant Surgeons several times over the last 7 years for issues with my knees. He spends the right amount of time with you to understand what's going on and makes sure to cover all angles. He is friendly, upbeat and cares about following up to ensure the injury/pain is resolved. He performed my mom's knee replacement over 10 years ago and it went very smooth. She's still doing great with it today at 70 years old. The office staff is knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. That's hard to find these days! I highly recommend Dr. Hurst!

Visit went very well. I'm especially please with my total shoulder replacement. I am 15 days post op and have not needed pain medication for the past 10 days. I had minimal bruising and feel very little pain. I'm so happy with the results. I'm looking forward to week 5 when I can say bye-bye to my sling!
