Dr. Jay M. Shah MD, FAAPMR is a double-board certified and Ivy League trained Interventional Pain Specialist, and is the Founder and Medical Director of the SamWell Institute for Pain Management. SamWell Pain has two convenient office locations in Livingston and Woodbridge, New Jersey.
Dr. Shah completed his training in Interventional Pain Medicine at the prestigious ACGME accredited Weill-Cornell Tri-Institutional Pain Fellowship in NY. There, he trained at three of the nation’s top hospitals: Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, The Hospital for Special Surgery, and New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill-Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Shah is widely considered a physician leader within the field of Interventional Pain Medicine. His truly patient-centered, multidisciplinary, and evidence-based approach aims to provide personalized care to each individual patient and their specific needs and goals. Through novel, non-surgical, and minimally invasive interventional techniques, Dr. Shah utilizes the latest technologies to help restore and maximize function and quality of life of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain related to degenerative conditions as well as sports-related or traumatic injuries.
Our treatments include non-surgical orthopedic procedures for low back and sciatica pain, neck, knee, shoulder, and hip pain as well as nerve pain after neck or back surgeries. He also specializes in interventional approaches for severe chronic migraine/headaches, chronic pelvic pain, facial pain, and severe nerve and neuropathy pain.
Dr. Shah is a spine, joint, and nerve pain specialist, whose expertise includes non-surgical and non-opioid pain relieving treatments performed under precise image guidance, such as spinal cord stimulation and Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation for complex nerve pain disorders including CRPS/RSD, and minimally invasive therapies such as MILD, Vertiflex, Kyphoplasty, Sacroiliac joint fusion, Endoscopic procedures, and regenerative PRP/Stem Cell therapies. He also specializes in epidural steroid injections, facet join treatments, radiofrequency ablations, nerve blocks and joint procedures for cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis.
