His passion for neurosurgery led him to complete his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was recognized with the prestigious Resident Neurosurgery Teaching Award and the Max S. Rittenbury MD Intern of the Year Award. Dr. Buchholz is recognized nationally for his expertise in adult spinal deformity surgery and robotic-assisted spine procedures. He has received numerous honors, including the AO Spine Best Clinical Research Award and the International Spine Deformity Symposium Best Paper Award. His work has been published in numerous respected medical journals, with over 30 peer-reviewed publications and multiple book chapters on spine surgery techniques.
