More about Dr. Jay Youngerman, MD, FACS
Dr. Jay Youngerman earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his residency in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery and Communicative Disorders at Long Island Jewish Hospital in 1983 and has been serving the Long Island community for the last 27 years practicing mostly out of his Plainview office. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Fellow of the American Board of Otolaryngology, a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.
Dr Youngerman is past president of the Long Island Society of Otolaryngology (LISO), and is presently the Governor representing the members of LISO to the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (AAOHNS). He serves on multiple committees, both as chairman of the committee and members of others and holds a position on the Executive Board of Governors of the AAOHNS. Locally Dr. Youngerman is the Chief of the Division of Otolaryngology at North Shore Plainview, and is on the Board of Directors of the Melville Surgery Center. He has attending privileges and teaches at Long Island Jewish Hospital and Schneider’s Childrens Hospital. He has been the guest speaker and presenter at multiple medical meetings, community organizations and business community.
For his work he has been honored by his peers and Castle Connolly as one of the Top Doctors in the Metro Area every year since 1994 and as recently as 2010. In 2008, and 2009 he was honored by Newsday as one of their Top Doctors. Dr. Youngerman has received multiple other honors including repeat listings in Strathmore’s Who’s Who, including Professional of the Year. Great Doctor, but the office is understaffed. The phone rang during my check in 15 times and was unanswered. I've had issues before in trying to call this office and no one answers the phone. The automated system answers, but you can hang on for an hour and still no one will pick up. They either need to hire someone to answer phones or allow online appointment scheduling and cancelations. If the office were run more smoothly, it would be so much better.
