She received her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and her OBGYN residency was complete at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Yu has a range of professional special interests, including: High-risk obstetrics, preconception counseling, birth control options, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, abnormal bleeding, pregnancy options, MonaLisa Touch and more. She has also explored a range of research areas such as evaluating outcomes of prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission in Uganda and clinicians perspectives on less frequent routine gynecologic examinations.
