I focused my attention on biology in college due to my parents’ career involvement in the sciences, but I was initially undecided about how to translate my degree into a meaningful and fulfilling career. Then, in my sophomore year of college, I shadowed a physician and my fate was sealed. I felt as a physician I could teach, assist in solving problems, and interact with people to have a positive influence on their health.
Family Medicine with additional training in Primary Care Sports Medicine gives me that wonderful opportunity. I work with my patients to establish their health goals, collaboratively. Once we have determined those goals, we work together to successfully achieve them.
My training in sports medicine gives me some additional tools to diagnose and treat a variety of both chronic and acute musculoskeletal issues across all age ranges. My mentors implemented a variety of approaches to diagnosing and managing musculoskeletal issues, including ultrasound for diagnostic imaging and needle guidance, prolotherapy, orthobiologics, and acupuncture, all of which had a major impact on how I practice today.
When I’m away from the office, you can find me snowboarding, hiking, exploring the Pacific Northwest, or out on the water with my family kayaking or paddle boarding. I enjoy playing my guitar, singing and occasionally writing songs, so when you hear me humming a new tune in the office, it just might be the newest song I’m working on!
