Dr. Henke is a Board Certified Surgeon and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He grew up in Northeast Ohio and attended the University of Toledo for undergraduate studies graduating Magna Cum Laude within the Honors Program. During this time, he spent a year in Manchester, England studying biochemistry and global medicine.
Dr. Henke then attended The Ohio State University College of Medicine earning his MD in 2007. He elected to pursue a career in surgery and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. He went on to complete his residency at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency serving as Chief Resident his final year. The program is a unique training institution as a collaboration between Banner Health System, a primary teaching hospital of The University of Arizona College of Medicine, and the Veterans Administration medical facilities. The high surgical volume training focused on advanced laparoscopic, robotic, endocrine, and bariatric surgery while also emphasizing research. Additionally, Dr. Henke was able to experience a more rural surgery experience while working at Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska.
After completing residency, Dr. Henke joined WLS Surgical Associates in 2012. Working alongside Dr. Joseph Kuhn, one of the foremost pioneers of weight loss and cancer surgery in Dallas, Dr. Henke has developed into a leading surgeon in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He became the owner of WLS Surgical Associates in 2015. It is his focus to provide individualized, compassionate care to each patient in the practice.
Dr. Henke met his wife, Becky, while in medical school. She is a special education teacher and stay at home mom. Together they have 2 young children, a daughter and son, as well as a faithful Golden Retriever. Dr. Henke enjoys

Potentially this was the most embarrassing doctor's appt. He's a bariatric surgeon and I was sure he was going to tell me I'm fat--as though I didn't already know that!
Dr. Henke did nothing of the sort. He listened. He advised. He was kind and approachable. I will send all my fat friends to him. He's awesome!

my appointments with Dr Henke and the staff there are always pleasant. Has an issue with accounting but the lady at the desk was very accommodating and instead of having me wait she said we will get with them and will have it sorted out when you come back. It was sorted out when i cam today

Dr. Henke has been taking care of me for 1.5 years, following vertical sleeve gastrectomy. He is an excellent surgeon, and is attentive, thorough, compassionate, and encouraging in follow-up care. He is actively engaged in post-operative support of his patients, which I believe is critical to success for bariatric patients. I have recommended Dr. Henke with confidence to family members and friends, for both bariatric and general surgery.

Dr. Henke is one of the most compassionate physicians you will ever meet. He truly cares for his patients and is willing to spend "extra time" when needed. If someone is thinking about bariatric surgery or just surgery in general, he is the one to see! With me having worked in the medical field for 30 years, I am very proactive when it comes to & the care I receive. I live 3 hours away from Dr. Henke's office and even though I could see someone closer, both my husband & I trust him immensely. You will not be disappointed.
