Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in the Dallas, TX area. He obtained an undergraduate degree in psychology at Southern Methodist University, and after matriculation, he began his medical studies at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio School of Medicine. While there, Dr. Schmidt was recognized on multiple occasions for his contributions to the education of his fellow medical students.
After earning his medical doctorate degree, Dr. Schmidt was selected for a highly competitive Head and Neck Surgery residency in Omaha, NE. He spent his fifth year in residency as chief resident where he was afforded the opportunity to teach both residents and medical students from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton University – School of Medicine. Dr. Schmidt engaged in a number of research projects during his residency and was honored by his colleagues with a first prize award in 2010 for a presentation on his translational research on the effects of melatonin in oxygen-starved tissues. During that same year, Dr. Schmidt also traveled with several other surgeons on a medical mission trip to Vietnam.
Following residency, Dr. Schmidt was selected from a pool of head and neck surgeons and plastic surgeons for a highly competitive training program in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. This coveted fellowship with renowned surgeon Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough is widely regarded as one of the world’s premiere facial plastic surgery training institutions. Dr. Schmidt’s skills as a facial plastic surgeon were sharpened while caring for hundreds of patients undergoing cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face.

My visit was very personal and informative. Dr. Schmidt is very personal and takes a great amount of time explaining my previous procedure. He listens and follows through. I would definitely recommend him to any patient looking for plastic surgery. He is a excellent surgeon and individual.
