He continued his education at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston where he received M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Human Biological Chemistry and Genetics, his Medical Doctorate, and numerous academic awards. Dr. Ethridge is also certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Ethridge received his formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and was honored with election into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed externships in cosmetic surgery at the prestigious Plastic Surgery Associates in Miami, Florida under the direction of Dr. James Stuzin, in microvascular surgery at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and in cosmetic surgery at the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute in Dallas, Texas under the direction of Dr. John Burns. The author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, Dr. Ethridge holds a patent for pharmaceutical use related to his years of research. He has presented multiple research papers and published articles on both local and national levels. He has also participated in Austin Smiles, an organization that provides reconstructive plastic surgery- primarily cleft lip and palate repairs- to children in various locations in Latin America.
