Dr. Jeffrey Steinberg is an experienced Urologist, Men’s Health Specialist, and Physician Executive who has practiced in many settings over the past 22 years. Prior to his return to Massachusetts in July, 2013 he practiced urology and also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Weiss Memorial Hospital, a 236 bed acute care hospital in Chicago, Illinois from September 2011 to December 2012. As CEO of Weiss Memorial Hospital, he was named as one of "100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems" by Becker's Hospital Review in 2012.
Previously, Dr. Steinberg served as Chairman of Surgery and subsequently as Senior Vice President of Health Policy and Disparities at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Connecticut from 2006 to 2011. Dr. Steinberg also served as Chief of Surgery at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts from 2003 to 2006 and as Acting Chief of Surgery for the Cambridge Health Alliance in Cambridge, Massachusetts from 2001 to 2003. He has held academic appointments on the faculties of Harvard Medical School, the University of Massachusetts Medical School and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine.
Since completion of his residency at the Harvard Program in Urology (Longwood Area), Dr. Steinberg has practiced urological surgery for over 20 years with a focus on prostate cancer, specializing in da Vinci Robotic Surgery. As a leader in health outreach and educational programs targeting African American men, Dr. Steinberg co-founded the Curtis G. Robinson Men's Health Institute in Hartford. He also co-founded New England's largest Prostate Cancer Support Group in the Harvard Longwood Area and the Annual Boston Prostate Cancer Walk, which has raised over $10 million for prostate cancer research.
