I am a Cornell-educated, board-certified psychiatrist who sees adults for psychotherapy and psychopharmacology. While my training has foundations in various modalities of psychotherapy, I am interested in a psychodynamic approach, pulling in elements from other styles as necessary. In my private practice I work closely with a wide variety of men and women and strive to offer the highest quality of individualized care. My specialty in Reproductive Psychiatry offers me a unique understanding of PMS, infertility, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and perimenopause.
Treatment may include psychopharmacology alone, psychotherapy alone, or a combination of both medications and psychotherapy. Medications are powerful tools for treating persistent symptoms and furthering treatment goals, particularly when used in conjunction with the right type of therapy, but medication is only prescribed after careful consideration and with your consent.
An initial consultation begins with our first scheduled meeting as I get to know you and understand what brought you into treatment. If you are looking for help, you are off to a good start. I truly believe that you deserve to feel better, and with treatment, you will.

Very pleased with my first visit. The Dr. is authentic, present and kind. She is sympathetic without being saccharine, aggressive with treatment while also thoughtful about a course of action.

I've seen Dr. Halper in her office for over two years, and have found her to be kind, caring, professional, and well trained. She seems to truly listen and understand, and provides a decisive, effective, and manageable course of action for working together on various issues. She is accessible, the office is convenient and comfortable, and I've never had any problems with scheduling or billing. Highly recommended.
