Dr. Mushtaler has a very calming presence and was super quick with her examination which I was very grateful for due to my anxiety issues with doctors. Unfortunately, when I arrived to check in, a patient in the lobby was making a scene, crying and yelling at the staff which almost set me off with an anxiety attack. This patient ended up taking an hour of Dr. Mushtaler's time and was late to her own appointment which delayed my appointment over an hour. While I was with the nurse before the examination, another patient walked into my examination room looking for the nurse which was not good and did not make me feel safe. Overall, the Dr. and staff were fantastic and fast but the other patients and the office were super unwelcoming and disrespectful and the appointment could have gone so much smoother.

We are pleased to be able to offer new patient telemedicine visits via our HIPAA compliant video platform. Dr. Jennifer Mushtaler (affectionately known as OB JEN) is a Houston native. Her love of science and pursuit of knowledge was fueled at an early age growing up across from the Johnson Space Center. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's of Science Honors in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin.
Dr. Mushtaler worked for IBM and BSG before attending medical school at UT Southwestern Parkland Memorial Hospital. She knew that her true calling was women's health care the first time she saw the miracle of birth; This drew such a "Wow!" from Dr. Mushtaler that her attendings told her that she was destined to be an obstetrician/gynecologist. During her residency she was privileged to learn minimally invasive surgery from some of the nation's leading experts and presented research to the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. She offers Acessa treatment as an alternative to hysterectomy for fibroids.
Dr. Mushtaler and her husband and children enjoy the active athletic community here - participating, volunteering and sponsoring triathlon and running events. Dr. Mushtaler volunteers her time on hospital committees, state Medicaid quality committees and in her neighborhood.

Dr. Mushtaler was awesome! She was honestly the nicest and most personable OB Gyn that I've seen in over 20 years.
I was a bit nervous choosing someone from Zoc Doc and not from a personal referral but I'm so glad that I did.
All of the great reviews she has are completely deserved as she is a wonderful doctor.

While the wait was long, it is worth it for an experienced professional who ensures you are comfortable and takes the time to answer your questions. Besides, the wait time probably has a lot to do with schedules or late appointments. If time is tight, maybe try scheduling an appointment in the morning. If you are the first one there, you will probably be out quicker.

I went to dr. Mushtaler for a quick appointment about a yeast infection and missed period, I waited for about an hour in the waiting room, then when in the room with the doctor she didn't answer any questions about my period and pushed her believes on me after I stated clearly that I do not believe in a certain method of health care. She referred to my infection as "yeasty beasties" as if I was a child and I did not appreciate her talking to me like that, I came for a comfortable, professional invironment and just was not pleased. Also while doing my exam there was no one else in the room and I felt very uncomfortable. She was very unprofessional and wasn't very hygienic either.
Other than her, I loved the nurses and lady at front desk.

Strange, to say the least. A normal appointment quickly devolved into a discomforting situation when Dr. Mushtaler started to share political comments and her take on "illegals" with me. Are you KIDDING ME? I'm here to take care of my health, and the last time I want unsolicited, whackaloon political commentary is when I'm sitting on the table in a doctor's office.
This may seem like a minor mistake on her part, but the lack of professionalism and judgment that would lead a doctor to make these inappropriate comments to a new patient is concerning. I prefer my doctors to have a little more poise and emotional intelligence, and if she exercises this lack of judgment in conversation, then she has no business treating me. PASS!

I have been seeing Dr. Mushtaler since I moved to Austin, for Annual Exams and some other concerns I had. Dr. Mushtaler is a good doctor, listens to your concerns and explains the issue very well. Unfortunately, my experience with some of her reception staff has been less than good. Past two visits, I waited for almost two hours each time. First time they forgot to check me in and I kept waiting. When they figured out, I did not get as much as one word of apology from the person at the front desk. She was very curt with me. Second time I received the same treatment (the wait was because the Dr. was attending to some emergency which I understand) and it was very stressful to be standing there in the doctor's office while the staff was being rude. Both time though, the doctor's assistant was great and she apologized on behalf of the front desk staff. My final straw was when I had an insurance claim issue and I called the doctor's office to seek guidance on that. The billing person wasn't listening to me, said they couldn't do anything and actually hung up on me and did not pick up the phone when I tried twice again. I was forced to leave a message for the office manager. I will wait a bit and contact the office if my insurance doesn't resolve the claim with the doctor's office. But sadly, I will have to look for another doctor as I don't want to deal with the front desk staff again.

Although I waited a bit once in the exam room, (to be expected at the doctors), I really felt like Dr. Mushtaler took the time to listen to my concerns and explain her recommendations and logic in simple terms. It's unfortunately rare to have a doctor that cares about you understanding your medications and decisions so I am glad to have found one that does!

The wait was a little longer than I expected, but I was informed about the days events and understood things can happen, but during the whole I was reassured that they did not forget me. Everyone was really nice! The visit was great!
