I first began seeing Dr. Seltzer when struggling with on-going medical and personal issues. From the start, I was impressed by her kindness, compassion and calm demeanor. She's a great listener; she's knowledgable about a wide range of medical conditions and the interactions of body and mind; plus she's well-researched, open-minded and up-to-date on the latest therapeutic approaches. I really appreciated that she took time to get to know me and understand my situation before offering any medications or other solutions - and when she did, it became part of a much larger framework to change my life for the better. Her guidance, encouragement and expertise have proven invaluable. I'm thankful a friend discovered her through his doctor and would highly recommend giving her a call.

I think Dr. Seltzer is an excellent psychiatrist. She's empathetic yet professional. She assists patients to frame and work with their emotional issues without being condescending. Dr. Seltzer is judicious in her treatment of symptoms pharmacologically which, in my opinion, is the sign of a good professional. Her office is not McDonalds, i.e., she's not an order-taker handing out prescrriptions for medication upon request. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr. Seltzer to friends and family. I have been a patient for more than a year and plan to continue seeing her on a monthly basis for an "emtional" checkup.

I am passionate about helping individuals feel more successful and be more productive everyday by coaching toward the goal of increasing resilience and communication skills. I provide a consistent and safe setting where we can openly discuss needs, wishes, fears and conflicts. I take pride in individualizing an approach that best fits each individual's personal lifestyle and also include medication treatment when appropriate.
I am certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. I received my medical degree from the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine. I completed my residency in internal medicine at Long Beach Veterans Administration and later completed my residency in psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I also attained a fellowship in nephrology from the University of California. I have had several leadership positions throughout my medical career and am a professional member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Southern California Psychiatric Association.
The first consultation is 60 minutes. In order to confirm an appointment, I need to speak with my patients on the phone first.

I have been seeing Dr. Seltzer for about 2 years for counseling related to medical & career issues. Her superb listening & key conversational skills make her a wonderful psychiatrist. Her help has enabled me to develop effective coping mechanisms.

Dr. Seltzer is a consummate professional who is highly skilled, with a keen ability to focus on the root issues. The result is that time is spent exploring the problem, and not on extraneous matters.
