Dr. Joel Mascaro is a board-certified family medicine physician who has dedicated his entire career advocating for patient wellness, focusing on preventative medicine, and causative pathology.
With five decades of experience in Family Medicine, Dr. Mascaro also serves as a coach and mentor to the younger generations through various mentorship programs and volunteering experiences. A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Mascaro received his medical degree at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine; he then became certified in Family Medicine by the American Osteopathic Board. Throughout his career, Dr. Mascaro has served various roles, including as a Medical Director of several organizations and founder of Keystone Wellness Group in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Patient wellness via a holistic approach is his passion; he believes firmly in resolving problems at their roots, rather than only tending to the superficial symptoms. Apart from being an exceptional clinician, Dr. Mascaro’s dedication in academia is outstanding; he uses his diverse wealth of knowledge to educate health professional students by being a faculty member at ATSU AZ School of Osteopathic Medicine.

The doc saw me right away, early actually! He came to greet me in the waiting room, took me back to get my vitals himself. We sat in his office and went over my history and everything together. He wasn’t satisfied with how my previous PCPs would just treat symptoms, and he wanted to get down to the underlying causes. Thus he ordered a ton of labs for me and seemed very eager to figure out my case. I can tell he definitely cares about his patients a lot.

I got in right away to see Dr. Mascaro. I was given an allergy shot, which my appt. was for. Also since my blood pressure was very high and it has been high,we discussed options for me. I was happy Dr. Mascaro took the time to ask me if anything new was going on. This opened up the blood pressure issues and others. I really appreciate that he took the time to listen and steered me in a direction that was for my benefit.

The Dr. was very friendly and I really enjoyed him! He also caught on right away that I had a serious problem and sent me to the hospital emergency room. I have had this medical problem for several years and none of the specialists I saw were able to diagnose me or tale it seriously! I think he saved my life andI can Ben my way to being healthy again!

Excellent doctor! Very personable and willing to talk and give you time to discuss your concerns in detail -- a fantastic "bedside manner".
Additionally, as a DO, he actually looks deeper into problems instead of just giving the first drug that can cover up your symptoms.

I like this guy quite a bit. He's friendly, knowledgeable, quick, and easy to talk to. He obviously has the skill to adjust his bedside manners depending on what the patient wants (he treated an elderly lady in the office at the same time as me much more slowly and calmly, but went through patient history quickly and efficiently with me). Overall, I would definitely recommend. He's a good guy and I had a really positive experience.
Only thing that went wrong is Zocdoc didn't actually notify him I scheduled an appointment and Zocdoc gave me an 8:30 AM option which was 30 minutes before his office actually opened. Still though, I got to see him at 8:45 and he made room for me even though I wasn't on his schedule for the day. I recommend calling ahead to make sure they get the appointment from Zocdoc as his secretary mentioned that they had issues getting appointment notifications from Zocdoc before.
