Dr. John Berger is a diligent and trusted family physician serving the community of San Diego, CA. Dr. Berger attended the University of Minnesota, where he received his medical degree. He then completed his internship in general medicine at Kings County Hospital and his residency in neurology at the University of Minnesota. He also holds a bachelor’s degree from North Dakota State University.
Dr. Berger runs his own practice. He is also a member of the American Heart Association, the San Diego County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association.

I’ll start with the doctor is very friendly and takes his time to understand your issue. He does seem pretty forgetful though which is pretty unnerving if you’re dealing with a more serious issue. Had to remind him more than once a certain antibiotic he had just given me was not working.
His receptionist seems overwhelmed. I was supposed to be given a referral for both blood work and to see a specialist. I was given neither, had to call and come back for the blood work referral, and was told she’d faced my information to the specialist. Issue was she never entered me into the system for them to see me. Not sure why that would be necessary but it was and it took me two visits to get that referral sent successfully.

Yvonne at the front desk is rude and kept saying “I don’t know.” She wasn’t helpful at all, decided to call me with questions 1 hour prior to appointment when I had scheduled the appointment 3 business days before, and she had a rude tone the entire time.
Dr. Berger wasn’t much better. I came for a yearly physical and all they did was check my BP.

Quaint little office. Can't say my experience was very thorough as I only saw him once for a general health concern, but the experience was great throughout. Great bedside manner and a jolly professional. Also uses this cool text to speech program.

He didn't really listen to what my problems were, I've been diagnosed with ADHD since I was a kid and have had Adderall prescriptions in the past. He is an anti-drug doctor. He would not refill or resub my prescription for something I've had for 6 years. Also, I've had horrible back pain from sitting while working, and he wouldn't give me anything for the pain would only refer me to a physical therapist. Nice guy, timely, professional, but didn't listen to what I needed.

The receptionist, the nurse ,the doctor all were very friendly, efficient and professionel. Made me feel safe and confident.
The atmosphere of the office is relaxed. Doctor Berger is what you expect a doctor to be.He actually listened and although the consultation was not very long, I didn`t feel rushed. I highly recommend this doctor. I have to mention that his staff has been with him for 15 to 25 years and they still look happy...I think that says a lot!
