Dr. John Anastasi is a board certified thoracic surgeon with a twenty five year experience in the treatment of all phases of cardiac and vascular disease. His special interest in the last ten years has been in successful, mininally invasive treatment of vein pathology ranging from spider veins to venous ulcers. His team at the vein center can offer the full range of evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of all elements of venous disease.
Born and raised in Long Island, he graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University in Queens, NY and attended medical school at the Wake Forest University were he earned his degree in doctor of medicine. He subsequently trained at the NYU-Bellevue Medical center and completed his training at the Allegheny General Hospital. For the last twenty five years he has been the Chairman of Cardiovascular Surgery at UPMC Altoona.
Since 2011 Dr. Anastasi and his team has successfully performed the full range of surgical procedures including endovenous ablation, microphelbectomy and sclerotherapy. With the help of two registered vascular technologist patients have the benefit of accurate on site diagnosis of their vein disease.
Dr. Anastasi is available to his patients seven days a week and currently maintains hospital privileges at Lenox HIll, Harlem Hospital and Staten Island University Hospital. He participates in all insurances companies including medicaid and all HMO’s.

I had a wonderful experience. I recently underwent a ablation. My leg feels so much better, it is not painful anymore. The doctor and staff are very caring and seem to be willing to spend as much time as I needed with me.
