He has published on the impact thoracic surgical volume has on outcomes and has highlighted concerns that volume standards may adversely affect minority communities. This work has been presented at national and international conferences. He has also presented nationally on the implications for outcomes from refusing esophageal surgery. Dr. Harrison has a major interest in health care disparities in the Chinese American community. He has spoken on the risks for lung cancer in this community and has established a clinical practice in the heart of Brooklyn’s Chinatown. Continuing his interest in quality, he has been named Chair of Quality Improvement and Assurance for the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at New York Presbyterian-Brooklyn Methodist Hospital. Dr. Harrison also has an active interest in medical education. He has previously served as Associate Clerkship Director for the medical student surgery clerkship and has been a member of the admissions committee for a university medical school. He is currently serving as Program Director for the Weill Cornell Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Training Program.
